Equally Destructive Lyrics
Ground is shaking
Waves are breaking
The wind has lost control
The air is shifting while its lifting force fools gravity
A huge eruption
Vast explosions as it bursts the earth
Water's pounding
Waves are sounding deadly and extreme
<i>"But we are equally destructive"</i>
Equally destructive as we are
Don't you think we've also gone too far?
We are just a part of this machine and its endless stream
Alarming silence predicts the violence that is yet to come
We are senseless
Proud while blindness is catching up with us
We must measure while the pressure of nature's force expands
We feel minor, punished and meager
Betrayed by all our gods
<i>"We are a part of it
We are equally destructive"</i>
Equally destructive as we are
Don't you think we've also gone too far?
We are just a part of this machine and its endless stream
Waves are breaking
The wind has lost control
Vast explosions as it bursts the earth
Waves are sounding deadly and extreme
Don't you think we've also gone too far?
We are just a part of this machine and its endless stream
Proud while blindness is catching up with us
Betrayed by all our gods
We are equally destructive"</i>
Don't you think we've also gone too far?
We are just a part of this machine and its endless stream

People cause just as much damage as natural disasters. The cause of the sick condition of the world is not God, but mankind.
I agree with musicmama888
More specifically, I think they're referring to positive feedback systems in nature that we've set in motion. Natural disasters keep growing more frequent and destructive, but they're only an equal reaction to the destructive acts of mankind.
"We are just a part of this machine and its endless stream."
It's a call for us to remember that we're still a part of nature and can't live independent of its cycles of cause & effect.
