Younger Than Our Years Lyrics
I have a confession to make
I've never been the kind of kid
Who likes to buy what you're selling to me
And all of this rhetoric about loving you
Is just another clever iteration
Of what I'm selling to you
I'm going under with you,
Is that what you want me to do?
They say that we are younger than our years,
And who is to say it's not so?
They've got years on us, don't they know?
I have a confession to make
I took a lesson from a liar
But it never inspired a thing
And all of this rhetoric about loving you
Is just another clever way to say
I know what I'm getting into
I'm going under with you
Is that what you want me to do?
They say that we are younger than our years,
And who is to say it's not so?
They've got years on us, don't they know?
And even if we're younger than they know,
Who is to say it's not life?
Let's make it last, let's make it last.
I'm going under with you.
I'm going under with you.
I'm through making promises
That I can't keep.
It's not what I sent out to do.
Did everything come crashing down?
I'm going under with you.
With you.
They say we are younger than our years,
And who is to say it's not so?
And they've got years on us, do't they know?
And even if we're younger than they know,
Who is to say it's not right?
Let's make it last, let's make it last.
Let's make it last.
I've never been the kind of kid
Who likes to buy what you're selling to me
And all of this rhetoric about loving you
Is just another clever iteration
Of what I'm selling to you
Is that what you want me to do?
And who is to say it's not so?
They've got years on us, don't they know?

Is that what you want me to do?
And who is to say it's not so?
They've got years on us, don't they know?
Who is to say it's not life?
Let's make it last, let's make it last.
I'm going under with you.

Woo first comment.
So I just found out about this band and I gota say they rock. This is one of my favorite songs by them so far.
I think it's about all older people thinking they know more and saying teenagers don't know what life is about. Maybe its so or maybe we do know what its about. I don't know its what I got out of the song and I can relate to it. It's like I'm young so I must be naive sorta thing. So yeah definetly a good song.
I'd have to agree. Except it's not really limited to teenagers. Even into your twenties, people will be like "Oh, they're just 20-something. yeah, sure sure. Go on and dream, youngin'"
I think it's a bit about how you may be an age (let's say.. 19 for me) but that doesn't mean that you act like a typical person your age, or even that you are more immature than that.
Older people may have the years, but they don't always have the right answers. Everyone matures differently, because everyone experiences different things. People that have it easier, are typically a bit more immature. People who have gone through complete hell are typically mature. Some may decide to not learn anything and numb out the pain, but the smart ones deal with it and learn.
That's just what I got out of it. I love the new cd so much.
I agree with LNikky, especially the third paragraph. I feel that with what I've gone through (cancer, parent's divorce, and some other personal triumphs) that I am a stronger person than even some of my teachers or other adults I know.
And I think that's common in a lot of "kids."
i have a few corrections. on these lyrics..
"I have a confession to make I've never been the kind of kid Who wants to buy what you say. And to make all this rhetoric about me and you It's just another clever interest, I wouldn't sell it to you"
..is actually
"I have a confession to make I've never been the kind of kid Who likes to buy what you're selling to me And all of this rhetoric about loving you Is just another clever iteration Of what I'm selling to you"
and also..
"I have a confession to make, I took the best, I'm a liar But I'm never inspired. To fake, with all this rhetoric about me and you. It's just another clever way to say I know what I'm getting into."
is:
"I have a confession to make I took a lesson from a liar But it never inspired a thing And all of this rhetoric about loving you Is just another clever way to say I know what I'm getting into"
:]
great song though.
I thought it was "They've got years on us, don't they....know?". Maybe the album insert is incorrect...riight.
