Worth Fighting For Lyrics
Summer burns june to july,
And we undress and take the dive
No one holds the hands that hold themselves
Remember who we are today
When sunburnt souvenirs have faded
We collect the moments on a shelf
And its all right if you feel like crying
but i won't leave you alone, oh
'Cause nothing in this world worth fighting for
is easy I thought you should know, oh
Winter stirs the stars to life
And we still burn from autumn fires
Laughing even in our discontent
And on until the lion fades
And april wears a brand new face
Own the moments life is not for rent
And its all right if you feel like crying
but i won't leave you alone, oh
'Cause nothing in this world worth fighting for
is easy I thought you should know, oh
Finish what you say, don't throw it all away
There is no way i can save us both anymore
Still i'm on my way [a hero saves the day]
So open up your eyes and open up your door
You're worth fighting for
And it's alright if you can't stop smiling
Cause i know just how you feel, oh
You're the one thing in this world worth fighting for
I need you now more than you know, oh
Remember who we are today
In 20 years when the pictures fade
'Cause you can't rest a good life on the shelf.
And we undress and take the dive
No one holds the hands that hold themselves
Remember who we are today
When sunburnt souvenirs have faded
We collect the moments on a shelf
but i won't leave you alone, oh
'Cause nothing in this world worth fighting for
is easy I thought you should know, oh
And we still burn from autumn fires
Laughing even in our discontent
And on until the lion fades
And april wears a brand new face
Own the moments life is not for rent
but i won't leave you alone, oh
'Cause nothing in this world worth fighting for
is easy I thought you should know, oh
There is no way i can save us both anymore
Still i'm on my way [a hero saves the day]
So open up your eyes and open up your door
You're worth fighting for
Cause i know just how you feel, oh
You're the one thing in this world worth fighting for
I need you now more than you know, oh
In 20 years when the pictures fade
'Cause you can't rest a good life on the shelf.

I'm quite surprised no one added this song earler; its one of my favorites now. And the meaning is pretty obvious, too. The song is about helping someone who gives up - "finish what you say, don't throw it all away". Its about living without regrets - "you cant rest a good life on the shelf"
i swear, this song is sooo full of meaning. every other line is a message, and it all ties together so nicely
No, I don't think it's about helping someone that gives up. To me, it's about this guy (the singer) who really cares about this girl. Although they are really good friends, she still refuses to open her heart and make something of the relationship, even though deep down she wants to:
"And it's alright if you feel like crying / But I won't leave you alone..."
Eventually, she does open up, and they are happy together:
"And it's alright if you can't stop smiling / Cause I know just how you feel..."
I'm still trying to piece together the most powerful part of the song, though - about him not being able to save them both anymore... maybe that he can't keep carrying both sides of the relationship, and as a hero, he finally pulls her out of her shell?
