A friend told me a story about this song but I don't know how true it is but ill share it anyway. She told me the song was the true story about a man who wanted to leave his wife and when he finally decided to do it , he found that she had taken her own life.

I think instead she just left him before he left her. When she leaves, he realizes he can't tell her he's leaving and it becomes almost humorous. He realizes being alone is his biggest fear and that it just came true.

I disagree that the song is about the girl taking her own life. I think it was the guy's worst fear to leave the girl and when he does, he finds that she is gone. But if she was going to leave why did she kiss him and tell him she loved him the night before?
