When you're lonely and sad
And you think of the times we had
Just the thought
Will bring you back to me
Seen you staring in to space
Shadow falling across your face
But it won't take long to get to you
Whatever you do

And if your heart should melt away
No matter, I'll find you anyway
Until you look and find a love who doubles
As someone who'll understand your troubles

When you're tumbling down
Cast an eye back to our old town
And a heart to hold you won't be far
Wherever you are

And if your heart should melt away
Wont matter, I'll find you anyway
Until you look and find a love who doubles
As someone who'll understand your troubles

When you're lonely and sad
When you're lonely and sad

    Memory

The situation in this song seems to be portrayed as a separation. The girl sees her lover in a very sad state. He is staring into space, and shadows are across his face. But the girl knows that it won't take her long enough to reassure him that everything will be ok. They will perhaps endure a distance in their relationship, but she reminds him that whenever he feels lonely and sad, he can think of the times they've once had, the place they've once shared; and he will be able to reach to her heart. And if one day, his heart fades for her throughout time, it'll be ok, because she'll be able to find her way back to him anyway. Yet, if he moves on, she hopes that he will be able to find someone who will truly love and understand him- even more than she does.

This interpretation could be interchanged as a guy's point of view too.

I love this song. They actually recorded this on Jo Wiley. This is a song written for the holidays. It's amazing if you haven't heard it you should go listen!!!

A straight-forward song that basically says "where ever you are, i'll always be there for you." I wish i could download this song without the radio commentary.

This song makes me feel warm and snuggly, I LOVE IT. I searched for ages to get the un-Jo Wiley version, if you look it up on YouTube, one of the videos has a link to an mp3 download of it with no commentary that I've just got.

It is just BEAUTIFUL, if you've not heard it you must give it a listen.

Another great "B" track from Keane.

In this one there's the classic transposition/irony of the artist offering up to the past lover what he actually wishes she would offer him.

Sadly it shows him as the suffering one - and to speculate, its likely the lover has left and forgotten him just as "A Bad Dream" offers so plaintively:

"Wouldn't mind it If you were by my side But you're long gone Yeah you're long gone now"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
