Dreams are just that; no matter how much we do of it they fade too. The death of a dream is a painful one.
Again, love dies when uncertainty arises. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy, or maybe its simply intuition...

in the same way, the big picture contains details, yet details do not reveal the big picture...they offer piecemeal perspective concerning the overall idea. this is like pixels of a television screen. perhaps this song is saying that love dies fast when you pin it down to the details--when details are mistaken for truth, for love. love is smothered by ideals. a dream is but an ideal--it seems we resort to these when we are unable to give ourselves freely.
I really find what both of you are saying very interesting. You can indeed approach it with a more ego centered way or a more universal way. Love for another person and universal love. Both are interlaced obviously. The great questions of all time. Hence the song because sometimes its just not something you can explain or completely understand.

While these interpretations make great points I see this as putting dandy’s in their place , the chord progression is like a 90s dandy’s just made better, a solo for a chorus is a staple but dandy’s we’re even using this so it’s subtle jab at surface level. Newcombe had the last laugh with some of those late 2000s and early 2010s releases with a slew of music that showed how amazing what he does is
