Peachy Lyrics
It's not my fault, it can't be my fault that you speak to me the way you do.
Now I'm split in two, I'm half me half you but I hate us both, don't you?
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
Of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
It's not your fault, it can't be your fault that I let you crawl inside my head
Cause you know my places, and know that face but I hate this taste, don't you?
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
It's no one's fault, it's nobody's fault that I fell on you and you on me
It's what humans do, and they pass on through but I think we can't, don't you?
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
Now I'm split in two, I'm half me half you but I hate us both, don't you?
You said life is peachy without me
Of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
Cause you know my places, and know that face but I hate this taste, don't you?
You said life is peachy without me
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me
It's what humans do, and they pass on through but I think we can't, don't you?
You said life is peachy without me
No of course you don't, of course you don't
You said life is peachy without me

I thought this whole album (On A Clear Night) was tied together in meaning somehow... if that's the case, I believe this song is about a married man who was having an affair with her.
The last song of the album, "Forgive Me", is about a man begging forgiveness from his family for the terrible hurt he brought on them. The song "Secret" on the same album refers to a relationship kept behind closed doors. And "Where I Stood" is a totally different stage in the breakup. In that song, she explains that the decision to leave was emotionally exhausting since she was torn inside, but felt it was best for both of them... In that song, she confesses that he means a lot to her, and tries to let him down gently.
I think this explains her fury here in THIS song, "Peachy", when her Ex is apparently emotionally unaffected by the breakup that she was so torn over. Like when you spend hours thinking of the right words to say so as not to break your partner's heart, only to find out they're already over you.
I don't know the order that she wrote the songs, but I would like to think that "Steer" was written last - a happy ending, as she realizes she's be better off free from people like that - she's her own person.
Neil Finn plays guitar in this song. Love it love it love. Love the sarcasm. Sort of this album's 'Casualty'. The meaning is pretty self explanatory – she wants the person who just broke up with her to feel some pain but they are “peachy”. Great song for when you’re pissed at an ex.
The lyrics to this song are so freakin perfect. Missy is a genious!
This may sound dumb but I don't speak English so... what exactly does she mean by 'peachy'?
Saying you're "peachy" simply means you're doing great. Sometimes you say it with sarcasm and thus meaning you really aren't that great and sometimes you can say it and really mean it. I haven't heard this song yet, but after reading the lyrics I'm wondering if the person saying life is peachy without her is really sincere...or sarcastic and trying to cover it all up. ;)
"No of course you don't, of course you don't"; she's being very facetious about it, at the very least! She's pissed that their relationship seems to have rolled off him like water off a duck's back but she suspects that he's talking out of his arse because she's being quite sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing.
great song, i cant get enough of it
I LOVE THIS SONG TO BITS! ...great live, missy realy gets into it! XD
what does she sing in the middle, during the 'break' in the song? does she say 'creamy'?
This song was written about the same guy in "Ten Days"- it's like Part 2
