Angela Lyrics

Clear the way, she's coming through
With her eyeshadow of satin blue
And her fingernails all painted new
She's a danger you're addicted to

Angela, Angela
You're a danger he's addicted to

So, move aside she has arrived
With her baby neck and sleepy eyes
She has heels that walk all over you
She's a danger you're addicted to

Angela, Angela
You're a danger he's addicted to
Oh, Angela, Angela
You're a danger he's addicted to

And I try to be more like you
Speak louder and prouder and hide my love
But it spills out, oh

Angela, Angela
You're a danger he's addicted to
Oh, Angela, Angela
You're a danger he's addicted to

You're a danger he's addicted to
So, I'll try to be more, more like you

Cover art for Angela lyrics by Missy Higgins

Missy said at a concert that she wrote this song while sitting in a LA hotel room and saw a black and white still photo of Vivien Leigh and Clark Gabel (from gone with the wind). She was looking at Vivien and thought that she was looking very feminine and that Clark was very manly but then thought i don't believe you Vivien and that she had an inner strength and was cheeky. She based the song on a woman like this and called her Angela.

that sounds like what this song really is about. one of my best friend's name is angie (short for angela) and it reminds me of her strength.

Angela seems to be the typical, confident, perfect beautiful girl who everyone looks up to. Her perfect nailpolish, her made up eyes. This boy is captivated by everything about her and she seems to have almost wrapped him around her finger....keeping him there with her beauty almost teasing and playing him but not letting him in any further. The other girl in the lyrics seems to want this boy who is in in love with this beautiful girl....the is made clear by her lyrics" ill try to be more like you, speak louder and prouder". She s just wishing she can be like the other girl so that this boy will notice her for once. I dono....thats just what i thought.

this song reminds me of a novel by an australian author, Robin Klein. It's called "Came Back To Show You I Could Fly". its about a girl much like angela (called angie!!) , I doubt if it has anything to do with this song, but i wondered if anyone else had read the book and noticed the similarities?

arya_elf_girl, i've read that book and i do see the similarities!! it's so weird.. Seymour really loved her, but he was too young. wow, i didnt really think of it that way until now

when i saw missy live she simply explained it as a girl who knew a little too well.

These lyrics are all wrong and thus screwing up the meaning of the song.

It should be:

And I try to be more like you Speak louder and prouder and hide my love but it spills out
