Well, from what I think it might be about a couple's relationship going down, just not the same love they felt in the begining, they tried to do whatever it took to make it better but it didnt work "We gave our everything All for unwanted dreams" after breaking up the girlfriend(i think the's the point of view i'm not sure) misses him and wants him back, she wants him to have a bit more faith to work it out again.

it's about being out on the road and struggling with maintaining a relationship despite the fact that they hardly see each other. they miss each other and try as hard as they can to make things work, but they're hanging by a string. they struggle with trust and the pain that comes along with knowing that there is temptation while they're separated. "i'm a ghost to the faces i miss" is referring to the loved ones that have been left behind and how they fear that they may be forgotten by them.
They just released their new album, Reach, and this song was renamed to Only Holding On, and according to the band, this song is about a battle between Alexia's conscience and outer self during the verses, and then the chorus is the band reminding her why she performs music.
