Glades of Summer Lyrics
In the fields of summer
I will dance away with you
I never knew the pain would see us through
And though we fear the silence
We never ever realized
That life was only passing gently by
When the darkness seems to fall
Then I can hear you call
Your voice is clearer now than before
And in the summer rain
I´ll carry all your pain
If I could only see you again
In the glades of summer
A light still wanes in you
Like winter days long gone
In midst of june
And though the cross feels lighter
On a warm midsummer night
Why do we then still feel so cold inside
When the darkness seems to fall
Then I can hear you call
Your voice is weaker now than before
And in the summer rain
You gave in to your pain
And life will never be the same again
I will dance away with you
I never knew the pain would see us through
And though we fear the silence
We never ever realized
That life was only passing gently by
Then I can hear you call
Your voice is clearer now than before
And in the summer rain
I´ll carry all your pain
If I could only see you again
A light still wanes in you
Like winter days long gone
In midst of june
And though the cross feels lighter
On a warm midsummer night
Why do we then still feel so cold inside
Then I can hear you call
Your voice is weaker now than before
And in the summer rain
You gave in to your pain
And life will never be the same again

I disagree, I think this song is more about someone achieving happiness and peace in life, but after years of hardship and sorrow and she and her lover are afraid of life suddenly turning dark on them and them being miserable again. "And though the cross feels lighter, on a warm midsummer's night, why do we then still feel so cold inside." and their fear of living that life again drives them away from eachother and this concerns her as she realizes that the only way to to make the fear cease is let everything rest, be happy with life and live in the present "life is only passing gently by"
but thats just my interpretation.
Really lovely song! I think that this song is about someone mourning over their lover who has died, wishing that it had been them instead.
I'd agree on that. Nice song.
This song is beautiful and yet terribly tragic. I love it.
I agree that she is indeed mourning. I, however, dont agree that she wishes that it had been her instead. It is clear that he took his own life when he felt the pain was too much to bear. She is confused as to how that can be so since she tried to make it clear that if he would only trust in her then she would gladly carry his pain. She went through the final stages of his life as he spiraled down to his ultimate weakness. I also think that she is angry that he didnt take comfort in her and refused to see that with her he was no longer alone and never would be. In some ways she blames herself for not being able to do more and in others she is angry and disappointed in his refusal to see the gift that she tried to give him. In the end she learns that if somone truly doesnt wish to be comforted or consoled then there is nothing we can do to help.
