New River Head Lyrics

Sun in his cups
Doesn't hear the water rushing
Down on the town
Stands in his beetle brushing
Boots, in his hand
A record by The Undecided
One out of one
Multiplied and then divided

What I want
Waits unnoticed, and
What I get

Rain in my bed
Oh, I need a New River Head

Snakes in the grass
Sliding through the Hornsey Gardens
Down in the park
Watching as the shadows harden
Left in the road
No-one ever realises
What you once were
Here in your new disguises

What I want
Waits unnoticed, and
What I get

Rain in my bed
Oh, I need a New River Head

Dead or asleep
It doesn't really matter to me
Here in my world
Step inside and walk right through me
I don't even see
I'm so involved in what I'm doing
Out of my grip
I'm unconcerned with rack or ruin

What I want
Waits unnoticed, and
What I get

Rain in my bed
Oh, I need a New River Head

Time flaots away
In this land of lakes and castles
Closing my eyes
I pack it up in paper parcels
Deep in the ground
All your sorry sisters flowing
Woven in lead
With little specks of silver showing

What I want
Waits unnoticed, and
What I get

Rain in my bed
Oh, I need a New River Head
Oh, I need a New River Head
Oh, I need a New River Head

Cover art for New River Head lyrics by Bevis Frond, The

Might I humbly suggest a couple of amendments?

First verse: First line is cups; I also believe they are "Beatle brushing boots". Second verse: "Hornsey Gardens" is an area in North London not too far from St. John's Wood where Nick Saloman grew up. I think you are correct that the fifth line is "road". Fourth verse: Begins with "Time floats away", and the third line is indeed "closing my eyes"

Thanks for adding it! Cheers, R
