Appreciation and the Bomb Lyrics

I gathered you here to say my last peace
A few final words before I am deceased
Don't change your plans this won't take long
I packed it up nice into this little song
If I could have your attention, observe this fuse
It leads to these explosives that I'm about to use
Before you freak out just let me explain
This bomb is the answer to all my pain

If there's one thing I've learned
It's that we never feel the heat until we get burned
But we tried so hard not to die
Sometimes we forget to appreciate life
Oh no

When the spark reaches powder
I will blow up
I'll become the mist you breathe into your lungs
All of my love will then turn into yours
And you will feel hope bleeding out from your pores

If there's one thing I've learned
It's that we never feel the heat until we get burned
But we tried so hard not to die
Sometimes we forget to appreciate life
Oh no

Dad you were there when nobody was
I followed your lead
Now i'm proud of what i've become
Brittany you never ceased to amaze me
Maybe some day you'll get another chance to be
Mom i wish you would try a little harder
Maybe catch a show or two
Would that be such a bother
To all my friends where do i start
I know i'd be dead without you in my heart

If there's one thing I've learned
It's that we never feel the heat until we get burned
But we tried so hard not to die
Sometimes we forget to appreciate life

I absolutely adore this song. Beautifully written, & the music really matches the tone of the lyrics as well. It's an "I'm dying soon, here's what I have to say to you" song. that's pretty self-explanatory I think. Absolutely beautiful though.

Well i don't think its just all about him appreciating people. i mean i want to know what the bomb is and then why does he talk about blowing up and then about trying not to die... i want to know! does anybody have any ideas?

I think... the whole part about blowing up is kind of just the feeling of knowing 'trying so hard not to die, and realizing that you forgot to appreciate life' The EP is amazing. Cant wait for the cd this fall. ^.^

the meaning behind this song is ovious. It amazes me how the spill canvas can put so much emotion into one song.

I think that the song is about the title of the song. He's showing his appreciation for the ones that he loves while he has a chance and telling them just to appreciate life. ~~ About the bomb part, I take it as obviously like it says, he's the fuse and what he's about to say will make him finally explode, "This bomb is the answer to all my pain" this song is helping him deal with the pain he's had about his mom.

i love this song so much ! its about how hard we try to keep our selves alive like with getting jobs and such pretty much just living and how hard i can be but when one thing goes wrong you tend to have no care to just through it all away and something really insanely bad must of happened so this is hjis appreciation letter to his loved ones my fav line = " To all my friends where do i start I know i'd be dead without you in my heart" poetically perfect i love tsc

in the new version of this song.. it sounds like he's saying whitney, instead of brittany? maybe its just me. on the ep version, it's obviously brittany.. but i was thinking he might've changed it for the full length.
