Delivery Lyrics

By and by the way of an explanation
Cast a drift of the shores of shotter's nation
I had a lick, it caved my skull in like a brick
Oh now what use am I to anyone
Fucked, forlorn, frozen beneath the summer
Don't sing along or you'll get what I got

So, here comes a delivery
Straight from the heart of the misery, oh
Here comes a delivery, straight through the heart of you, yeah you

And you, You've finally left school
Oh what, on earth, do you intend to do?
See if you can take the man go down town
And all, you skins and mods, now get together
Make pretend it's 1969 forever
Or find a girl, have a drink, have a dance and pray

This song might deliver me
From the harshness of misery, oh
It's a song that delivers me, straight to the heart of you
So, here comes a delivery
Straight from the heart of the misery, oh
Here comes a delivery, straight through the heart of you

This song is Peters warning to his fans - 'dont be like me'

This song is about Pete not wanting other people to follow his drug taking ways. I had a lick, it caved my skull in like a brick This is Pete conveying how the drugs have messed up his head

Oh now what use am I to anyone He feels useless because of what they have done to him

Fucked, forlorn, frozen beneath the summer When everyone else is happy he still feels miserable

Don't sing along or you'll get what I got If you do drugs like him you'll end up as msierable as him

It's been suspected that Pete has Borderline Personality Disorder, and these lyrics sort of explain some of the depressive thoughts he has. It sounds like he's depressed and struggling with drug addiction, he knows he's fucked up, and wants to change or he wants to be saved from his misery.

I realise this version posted was probably an earlier recording...so there are a few lyric changes in the recorded/album version....

changes are in CAPS.

  1. 'Cast a drift of the shores of SHOTTER'S nation' ...The name of the album will be 'Shotter's nation'.

  2. 'OH NOW what use am I to anyone F**KED, forlorn, frozen beneath the summer Don't sing along or you'll get what I got'

3 I agree w Jayd,it is SCHOOL.

  1. 'Or find a girl, have a drink, have a dance and PRAY. THIS SONG MIGHT DELIVER ME'

hope thats okay, i realise a lot was nitpicking! Thanks

Love the song - although nobody else think its a total rip off of 'You Really Got Me' by the Kinks...not taking anything away mind, Delivery is still a great song in its own right!

^^^ I wouldn't call it a total rip off, but that's what I thought the radio was about to play when I heard the introduction.
