Stuck at Sea Lyrics

Running in and out of breath
Staining skin & teeth to red
Incessant slamming and that tone
God forbid I spend one night alone
Out to the parking lot
Stumbling towards my apartment
Pressed you close against the screen door
Close enough to feel underneath your clothes

You overcompensate, for you own inexperience
Don't underestimate my fear of getting caught

So many words, so many words
So many you can't believe
So many words, so many words
So many stuck at sea

On the second story of your suburban home
Mom's asleep just two doors down
Funny how when stuck at sea
Things are never the way they seem
Clouds take the shape of gloves
Reaching over the flames at dusk
Missing clips in your consciousness
Just act as if I don't exist

You overcompensate, for you own inexperience
Don't underestimate my fear of getting caught

So many words, so many words
So many you can't believe
So many words, so many words
So many stuck at sea

Felt the repetition of my ways
The lack of apprehension that once saved

So many words, so many words
So many you can't believe
So many words, so many words
So many you can't believe

This will end eventually

I keep burning my fingers
In attempt to rekindle the flame
The matches, so flimsy
And the wind just denies her name
So I pull out the garments, that were pressed between us
On that dreamless evening, that you refer to in disgust

So many words, so many words
So many you can't believe
So many words, so many words
So many stuck at sea

A hook up that that the girl performed out of desperateness which she later regrets but he has more feelings toward her than she him and he's trying to "rekindle the flames" that she keeps blowing away.

def. about a drunken hook-up. i get the vibe that it could be a hook-up with a younger girl too.

i think this song is obviously about a drunken hook up with a younger girl.

"You overcompensate, for your own inexperience Don't underestimate my fear of getting caught"

& "On the second story of your suburban home Mom's asleep just two doors down"

then after the hook up he starts to have feelings for her but she doesn't feel the same way?

"I keep burning my fingers In attempt to rekindle the flame"

haha in AP, Jarrod admits that he "thinks it sucks"

"Everyone likes it, so fuck it. I think it sucks, but you know, it's all about what they think."

And actually, I like it. I think it's about being stuck somewhere, and not knowing where to go and how to get yourself out.

haha i read that too; although i don't think this song sucks, it is one of my least favorites on the new album

I think the city's summer would make a better single.

Jarrod doesn't actually think it sucks. He was joking and the interviewer didn't get it.

Cover art for Stuck at Sea lyrics by Honorary Title, The

this sounds like a song about a drunken high school hook up or something along the lines of the earlier song cut short

Cover art for Stuck at Sea lyrics by Honorary Title, The

some parts of this song and the way jarrod sings at some points remind me a lot of the killers.

Cover art for Stuck at Sea lyrics by Honorary Title, The

i personally dont see how it sounds like the killers, but I have heard other people say the same thing. I don't listen to the killers very often so maybe that is why I am not seeing any similarities.
