I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
crash landed on mars
there's no one but you and i
the haze and the stars
there's blood in the sky
blood in the sky
blood in the sky
out of the parts we saved
we built a makeshift base
and plant some gardens there
the nights grow cold
we grow old
and earth has telescope eyes.
are they looking from windows of bedrooms?
they see us aglow on a red moon
you're all around me
you're all around me tonight
our only concern is the weather
i believe you when you say forever
you're all around me
you're all around me tonight
sleep
through monochrome days
savor the blue in your eyes
the earth in your gaze
there's blood in the sky
blood in the sky
blood is the sky
remember our jobs back home
your boss and his cheap cologne
kids and countries fight
there's no real air
but we don't care
we smile for the telescope eyes
they're looking from windows of bedrooms
to see us aglow on a red moon
you're all around me
you're all around me tonight
our only concern is the weather
i believe you when you say forever
you're all around me
you're all around me tonight
are they looking from windows?
they're looking from windows

are they looking from windows?

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Joe told me the songs about 2 ppl on love that are on mars. Telescope eyes means people are watching them all the time.
