Opinions Won't Keep You Warm At Night

I do really love this song, I always took it to be just a song about standing up for yourself while being shot down but after seeing the video I can see how it could also be a political message. The lyrics here are actually wrong though, in the chorus it says: "Sometimes it takes a lot to say I don't agree with what you see"

"And I will never let the bitter things you say ever get to me." The most important line in the song. But I'll get back to that in a sec.

The song title never actually appears in the song, not that this is odd. However, it does add extra meaning. Some songs just throw the titlt of the song in to the lyrics because it sounds good. Not this time.

Saying that 'opinions wont keep you warm at night' in conjunction with the line I mentioned at the start of this comment compliment each other. They do this byconveying a simple message: Opinions are just one persons view on something.

"Sometimes days are like this and you don't agree with what you see." On some days, you will have a a different opinion to others.

And finally "Wait while jealousy tears you apart." Jealousy can often flower from an opionion, for example, like coop mentioned earlier, if in a relationship and you think your partner is seeing someone else (even if it is only a paranoid opinion) you grow jealous, and say things that you might later regret.

I believe Traici's "Opinion" on the song, two comments previous to mine. It is easy for people to criticise because of an opinion, i.e. "Hardcores are fags." Thats a generalisation.

Hence the title, OPINIONS WONT KEEP YOU WARM AT NIGHT. In all its stating that opinions are just that ... opinions, and not something to crete the basis of foundation upon.

i think its talking about someone being jealous of his relationship.

"Just wait. Can't you see you're being weak? It's shadowed and dark and now everytime you speak you're just lying through your teeth."

Maybe this person sees them having a bad day and tells him that his relationship is stupid but he knows that problems happen in relationships && that he can work them out.

if you look at it without the world leader's faces though it's basically about how you can ignore your 'friends' when you get into a relationship. (i think) yes, no, maybe!!!

I believe the song is written for those who criticize others because they are jealous of what they are doing, and can't do it themselves. Many bands receive an enormous amount of criticism, and often it's got nothing to do with how good the music is.

I dunno about the song, but with the video if you look at it its basically a metaphor for our politics and stuff. George Bush and Tony Blair are the two heads of everything, whereas Australia represented by Howard is in the back seat and just a tag along, and we aren't respected as much by them. Then at the end of the day (when Bush runs to Cheney), we see that Bush cares more about his own than those who he makes out to be his friends.

Just my opinion anyway.
