I've heard this song on the Deathnote opening, and i have no clue what it means! However, i do feel like it is somewhat following the story of Deathnote, and asking the obvious question- "is it just to kill hundreds of people to make the world a better place?"
This song really spoke to me the first time I heard it through. I mean, the part 'Someday, I’ll show you A shining sky' made me kinda sad. I've always loved this song as the opening theme of Death Note (Desu Nooto) and I have to agree with foreverago: it really DOES fit the tone of the story; kinda dark & mysterious, with a LOT of, well, death in the first dozen or so episodes. Plus, Yomi's voice is SOO the sex!
~Kira X Kira~
I have to follow up woth what foreverago and ~Kira X Kira~ said, it totally fits the story. Every part of the song has something to do with Deathnote. The part "Yume risou ni kaeru (dreams, turned into ideals)" really relates with Light because his dream of changing the world eventually not only becomes his ideal, but also his obsession. Then the line "Doushite Boku wa kowareta Messiah, dare mo ga nozonda owari wo (Why? Am I a broken Messiah, everyone wished for a finale) shows Light's confusement as to why everyone is turning against him. Dosen't everyone want a "finale" so that all the crime will end? Dosen't everyone wish for a paradise? Then why are people trying to killl him if he's trying to show them, "a shining sky?"
