A Collapse of Confidence Lyrics

Maybe I should take your advice
And never look twice
I've had my share of stories
More grotesque than my insecurities
I've sold myself short
Learned to forget your name
So I wouldn't get hurt
But it costs more than it's worth

Instead of head down
Without a comeback
I keep my head up
And push my shoulders back
Knowing I'm only as strong
As my weakest excuse
I run to you

But moments like this
They never last
The questions I'm afraid to ask
Left my newfound confidence to collapse
A secret I have found
Better to hold in then to let out

I saw you searching for a body count
After the storm passed over
Caution caution
This is where I draw the line
And this is where you stand
Beside the ones who lied
And the ones who tried
To rely on giving in

Let's not kid ourselves
Life's as short as the time we waste
Lost laughing in our coffins
Scared of sounding fake
Scared back luck might conquer fate
So we turn to bridges
That we've burnt
But it's too late

I saw you searching for a body count
After the storm passed over
Caution caution
This is where I draw the line
And this is where you stand
Beside the ones who lied
And the ones who tried
To rely on giving in

This was never a dream
And it never will be (x2)
I swear this never came
So easily to me
Is it so hard to just say it
I give up i give in
So hold on to what you never had

Holding on by the blindfolds
We hide behind (x2)
We are all just digging ourselves
Separate holes but
You left one open
Holding on by the blindfolds
We hide behind (x2)

I'm not really sure but if i had to take my pick on what the song means, here are a few of my thoughts. This song reminds me of a friendship gone bad bc the other person just is fake or something, and he keeps going back and they keep deflating his "confidence" but now he sees how fake they are and how much they're holding him back and he lets them go.

or it could be a breakout gone bad (yeah i know it's overused and annoying that everyone always uses that for a reason, but w/e)

Well anyways this a great song (a little too screamy for my tastes but w/e)
