Q&A
By the Waters Lyrics
we sat around so long to find our way home
and in the silence that we made
we never pulsed a finger, twitched a leg
i was tired, you were sleeping
and so it goes...we were in love
and nothing did matter, dear
nothing was ever more clear
you're so divine
and all the air that went through us
it never gave the sense of time
we sulked around so long
we might have never known
that childhood was gone, we weren't innocent
after all
i am selfish, you are sleeping
and so it goes....we are in love
we're patient in patterns, dear
but what does it matter, it's clear
no more romantic lies
this is divine
and in the silence that we made
we never pulsed a finger, twitched a leg
i was tired, you were sleeping
and so it goes...we were in love
nothing was ever more clear
and all the air that went through us
it never gave the sense of time
we might have never known
that childhood was gone, we weren't innocent
after all
i am selfish, you are sleeping
and so it goes....we are in love
but what does it matter, it's clear
this is divine

sorry, i'm leaving a comment boods, but i felt compelled! i noticed a consistent calmness/laziness in the song that matches the feel of it. it's sort of rhythmically....ummm....waft-y. And the lyrics match that really well. Sitting around.....silence...stillness...sleeping....the "air that went through us" suggests us just breathing...sulking...etc. I like the solidarity of the lyrics in that sense. Also, it feels like a love song with a duel criticism hidden underneath. we need to get out there and do some shit!!!
yeah?
