Simply, it was written by Alex as he repeated his gap year. He was bored and just seemed to be living each day over and over again because of the lack of interesting thing that occured.

meh... this song so talks about my life right now, on a gap year doing nothing, trying but can't get a job or dole money and going nowhere in life right now. but the difference is I don't really care.
It sounds like the singer is also talking about a dead-end job where he's trying to persuade the boss to give him something new to take on but he has not the experience or opportunity to gain promotion.
i like this song it's all right - but i think it just goes on for a bit which is why i hardly know the ending but it's nice song anyways

I don't like the sappy video (and lyrics) but it is still a good song.
