The Things He Carried Lyrics
Light it up
A flash so thin
Through a sky so gray
Look away
Our faces turned
It's a plea to the ear
It's a walk to my hands
It's a fall to my feet
To find sympathy
Now you're lost in the dark
And nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there for us
In the dark, and nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there
His fortunes
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
His fortunes
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
Light this
Like a happy scene
Its a set
Its all it takes
To trick our eyes
And fabricate
Honest
Honest goodbyes
Now you're lost in the dark
And nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there for us
In the dark, and nowhere to be found
Our lives light up at times like these
At times
Our lives
Light up like cities in the night
At times
Our lives
Light up like cities in the night
His fortunes
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
Like rivers
We splinter
You don't have to leave
Run away with me
A flash so thin
Through a sky so gray
Our faces turned
It's a plea to the ear
It's a walk to my hands
It's a fall to my feet
To find sympathy
And nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there for us
In the dark, and nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
Like a happy scene
Its a set
Its all it takes
To trick our eyes
And fabricate
Honest
Honest goodbyes
And nowhere to be found
But I know you'll be waiting there for us
In the dark, and nowhere to be found
Our lives light up at times like these
Our lives
Light up like cities in the night
Our lives
Light up like cities in the night
Our futures at hand
We light
Light up like cities in the night
We splinter
You don't have to leave
Run away with me

obvious homage to the similairly named tim obrien novel "the things they carried" about a group of soldiers in vietnam, saw it live tonight, rediculous
badasssssss
The best vanna song....the breakdown at the end is sooo sick, it gets me so pumped.
After reading the book, this song is a poetic parallel but in a very loose sense. This song definitely shows the versatility of the band from being just another metal band from Boston in to something much more meaningful and lasting.
