I met a boy, he wore a seatbelt
He kissed my cheek in the back seat
We played basketball his girl cousins
Played too in Germaine
I'll be your girl
I'll be your boy
But Victor he was my first man
He didn't have any money
So I paid for his movie
Viva lost childhood
Be my boy forever
And I'll be your girl
He kissed my cheek in the back seat
We played basketball his girl cousins
Played too in Germaine
I'll be your boy
He didn't have any money
So I paid for his movie
Viva lost childhood
And I'll be your girl

i heard an earlier version of the song from live sound footage (in 2006) that added to the lyrics:
"i met a girl, i kissed her in the bathroom of my high school i saw her at a club, she was doing her thing yes, she was my girl yeah, she was my friend
i'll be your girl
it's a miracle (etc)"
hmmmm! i wonder why bianca didn't include these in the album version. the footage is from here: http://3voor12.vpro.nl/artiesten/artiest/19267707 (look under "concerten" cause its in dutch or something like that. i'm not exactly sure 'cause i was just looking around.)
absolutely beautiful song. it's so sublty sombre, an excellent way to close off what is now my favorite album by them. anywho, as for a meaning, the lyrics are somewhat abstract in Cocorosie fashion but i almost get the feeling like narrator is reminiscing on her first love when she was very young, during a more innocent time when little things like a kiss in the back seat meant so much. also, the line "i'll be your boy" and "so i paid for his movie" possibly hint at gender role reversal, since they would both be children and societal restraints such as that wouldn't have applied. i dont know, i could be way off, but either way its an entranscing song
so wonderful
Gender role reversal? ehh, not picking up on that.
You're right about the first love part. The first boy in a more innocent time, a first kiss, on the cheek. The second was an older man ("But Victor he was my first man") who she lost her virginity to, "Viva lost childhood".
"Be my boy forever And I'll be your girl" Exactly what a girl that age is thinking, so perfectly put. the faint "I'll be your girl" is so good for the song, makes it a bit eerie, hinting pain, "lost childhood" and ignorance. beautiful song.
This song is just so dreamy. It gives me chills. You can really feel the bittersweet reminiscence throughout the song.
Am I an idiot for thinking that Antony Hegarty contributed vocals for this song? That songs a lot like him to me, although airier than usual. Any help?
P.S. I love this motherfucking song.
It's the French rapper Spleen, who sang Bisonours on Noah's Ark. But it does sound a little like Antony. It's such a wonderful duet.
what does sierra sing?
