This is an awsum song... ill think later wat its about- just wanna say that one line thats wrong in this acually goes ' trying to negotiate their slow denys'
Such a lovely song. To me the first two verses are about genuinely being in love with someone and not caring about other people who are just looking for the next person to sleep with lol. The chorus to me is about hoping the relationship lasts forever and that the people involved don't get over it. And pretty much the rest of the song I reckon is about what the future holds for these people.
i love josh pyke. this song is awesome. i reckon hes just looking at a new relationship which he is enjoying being in and wants to work out, talking about how he wouldnt really bother if he didnt feel like it was going to work. He pretty much sums it up with the fact that hes willing to put the work in if the other person is. a beatiful song. he has such a great perspective through all his music.

the bit about jumping harbour walls and that bit is definetely about a love, something to keep safe as part of the future.
but i see the song as a whole a lot more about the future in general. trying to do something worthy and important with our lives. i think he's also worrying a bit about how he's or we're living at the moment:

I believe this song is about love and relationships... About how lots of people search through the 'sea' of partners who aren't for them and just date and sleep around and some people enjoy that - he doesn't, He is in love and happy and content just being with the one person because he can trust them and feel safe and confortable... "I want the song I can sing forever" - to me he is saying he wants to be with the same person and be happy and in love with them forever, doesn't want to 'sing a different song' only sing there song... and the "I don't care for structure just to know its mine" - I think he is saying you don't need to be married or or have the relationship defined by anyone else, because as long as he believes in love, and that person loves him back - thats all that matters. "Id hate to see this thing we've developed become your burden or my waste of time" I think refers to the fact that he won't give up and let the relationship become a burden or a waste, because they are meant to be, and 'struture' (ie. marriage) can put unfair pressures on you you and make you feel like you have to stay, instead of being reminded why you want to stay, and how the other person is something worth fighting for, not the struture worth fighting against. "in the future we trust, We cross our fingers like some kids telling lies." - You don't know for sure what the future holds with relationships, someone who is the love of your life today may turn out to be someone else tomorrow... but to be happy in love, you have to put aside your fears and 'trust in the future' that its going to be okay, and cross your fingers, hold on tight for the ride and have faith it'll all be okay.
