O.A.V.I.P. Lyrics

She collects medicines in the box
Where once he had kept his
And holds out hope the year old worries
Will be gone
Long before she goes

So when's your start and when's your end?
The slow depart: happening again

The fun-size can you can expect
It only reflects her wants for you

When's your start and when's your end?
The slow depart happening again

Cause this is not farewell old dear
This is not farewell old dear

So when's your start and when's your end?
The slow depart: happening again

The start makes me think of an old-age relative that hasn't got over the death of her husband. Using his medicine box, and hoping her sorrow and woes will disappear soon, so she can die happy. "The slow depart: happening again" makes me think of Orlando trying to get to grips with the fact that his relative's going to die, after experiencing this with his grandfather or whoever it may be about. "The fun-size can you can expect, it only reflects her wants for you" - it's as if the fun-size drinks can is a metaphor for what she wants for Orlando. As long as he's happy, she doesn't mind if he doesn't have an extravagant life. All in all, it's a lovely little ode.

This song is so beautiful.

"She collects medicines in the box where once he had kept his." "The slow depart happening again."

I think this could easily be about dealing with divorce or loss of a loved one. I like loss of a loved one more because then the lyrics gain more power and poignancy. Not that they need it. This song makes me wish I was Orlando Weeks.

Yeah I agree with that, though maybe bereavement in old age? The O.A. as in O.A.P i think kind of points to that direction?
