Bury My Head Lyrics
Tip-toeing where you shine your light,
Stealing my heart into the night,
And springing it on me just when the time is right.
You told me about her and all the plans you're making,
Lost in the woods with two crumbs for taking.
Now I don't want to share
Your fingers through my hair.
But if you keep calling my name,
I'll bury my head in the sand hoping you'll stay.
Why cant you be different from the rest?
Oh, won't you surprise me instead?
I've had it up to here,
Please just be my darling, my dear.
I knew it was hard for you to say
Quivering like a leaf as we lay.
I guess that I could share
Your fingers through my hair.
But if you keep calling her name,
I'll bury my head in the sand hoping you'll change.
Why can't you be different from the rest?
Oh, won't you surprise me instead?
I've had it up to here.
But, please just be my darling, my dear.
But, please just be my darling my dear...
Stealing my heart into the night,
And springing it on me just when the time is right.
You told me about her and all the plans you're making,
Lost in the woods with two crumbs for taking.
Your fingers through my hair.
But if you keep calling my name,
I'll bury my head in the sand hoping you'll stay.
Oh, won't you surprise me instead?
I've had it up to here,
Please just be my darling, my dear.
Quivering like a leaf as we lay.

mostly i agree with aloharose, but i think kate walsh is actually 'the other woman', he cheats on his girlfriend with her but she wants him to be hers alone but he doesn't want to leave his girlfriend or even wife for her.
I love this song, I think its about the person she loves cheating on her, her knowing about it and knowing she really ought to leave him but she won't, she just buries her head in the sand about it all.
I always think its "HOW can't you be different from the rest" - maybe thats not right, but it seems to makes more sense to me, its like shes not saying she wishes he was different but that she can't believe she was wrong about him - she thought he was so different.
great song and great picture painted about the story, about the power someone you love has over you and maybe shes hinting at the manipulation of that power in "tip toeing where you shine your light" - definitely a relate-able type of song.
This is one of my favorites. I completely agree with AlohaRose is that with the name of the song being "Bury My Head" she knows that her boyfriend is being unfaithful and is choosing to just pretend she doesn't know but at the same time doesn't want to "share your fingers through my hair". Kate Walsh is amazing at putting her words in such a way that explains a thousand feelings in just a few lines.
ahh i agree with all of the above. there is so mcu passion in her beautifull little delicate voice. if i could sing like anyone, it would be her
what about the part where it says 'you tell me about her and the plan's your making'
well that is one of the lines that make me think that she's actually 'the other woman' like i said before, lacerbuffy. She's not the one really cheaten on - he cheats on someone WITH her. So he would tell her about his girlfriend en the plans they were making, which probably means he told her that he wasn't going to leave his girlfriend: 'I knew it was hard for you to say' But she wants him to be only hers: 'Please just be my darling, my dear'
I agree with onetwofold. Lines like 'lost in the woods with two crumbs for taking' shows he needs to make a decision between her & his girlfriend/wife. And the whole 'you tell me about her & all the plans you're making', it doesn't sound like something you'd tell your wife, it's like he can't make a decision & so voices his thoughts to her & she wants him to herself 'i don't want to share your fingers through my hair' but wants him to be happy ' i guess that i could share your fingers through my hair'. But she...

But she also doesn't want him to go away & then keep wanting her & doesn't want him to stay if he's gonna keep wanting his wife. If any of that makes any sense lol
I think that it could be interpreted also as someone who realizes that her time with him is limited. Like, she can tell that he still thinks about his last lover a lot, and it almost feels like she's sharing him with the last woman. But in the end, she just wants to stay with him and be loved with him, despite all her hesitations and all the drawbacks.
