Breakdown Lyrics
There I'd carve your name
If it would brighten up this room
But you know that anyway
Not today.
Sometimes I wanna pop
Sometimes I wanna say…
You're all lookin' to me
To keep it in line
I hope I can keep it in line
To hear what I haven't heard
And when darkness rolls around
Well I scream out the words
He looks about my age
I wonder if he ever broke at all
I wonder if he ever had to say…
They're all lookin' to me
To keep it in line
And I'm gonna keep it in line
It always does
At the last drop of doubt
Just like it never was
They're all lookin' to me
To keep it in line
And I'm gonna keep it in line
I absolutely love this song. One of my all-time favorite CCR songs. I was surprised to find that no one else had posted it.
I can definitely relate to the words here... I know that I've felt like I needed/was about to breakdown before. And while I don't have people counting on me for financial support or to take care them, I have people "looking to me to keep it in line" so that I get through school and graduate and find a job and be around with family and friends, etc. All this makes me feel like I can't breakdown... like I have to keep it line. And even though sometimes I'm not sure I can keep it in line like the last line in the first chorus, I do... "just like every single time", simply because I feel like I have to or I'll end up letting everyone around me down.
I'm not sure about the rest of the song really.. but that's how I feel about the chorus in my own personal life.
If you haven't heard this song... I definitely recommend you give it a listen!
Such a great song. When too many people are looking to you for support, you simply just "can't find the time" to breakdown. Only when the darkness rolls around can you breakdown by yourself.
Their lyrics have stayed great for so many years.
It means I can love but thinks I can't do
