Post Soothing Out Lyrics
You're only halfway
Through your working day
I'm sorry honey
But we both need your pay
I'm sorry about everything I've put you through
I'm sorry about getting by on making do
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
You're worried and I have my doubts
But I'm drunk when I text
So I send 'post soothing out'
I just had a nasty flashback
We both used our cards for cash back
Hard way to explain
Why my pockets are full of change
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
River deep and mountain high
There's some lyrics that'll never apply
'Cause I don't lie awake at night
With thoughts of river depth or mountain height
Don't care what your parents say
It won't always be this way, I
Don't care what your parents say
It won't always be this way, I
Don't care what your parents say
It won't always be this way, you're
Only halfway through your working day
I've met your parents
And I know it sounds rough
But I'm gonna be out,
When they come for your stuff
So cheer up now, it's not all doom and gloom
They never got around to redecorating your room
Through your working day
I'm sorry honey
But we both need your pay
I'm sorry about getting by on making do
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over
Every day is just like starting over
We try so hard but we keep on falling over

I've heard this song live three times now, and it's friggin' awesome. I can't wait for the new album!
Last line should read 'redecorating'. This is probably my favourite of the new songs at the moment; musically, it reminds me of the theme tune to 'Rainbow'! Presumably instead of 'Post soothing out', he meant to text 'Sort something out'?
when I saw them live Eddie said it was a song about "the saddest text message ever sent". (or something like that.)
This song is hilarious. First off you have a character who is so drunk at noon (half way through her working day) he is sending wrong text messages.
But then the lines:
"River deep and mountain high There's some lyrics that'll never apply 'Cause I don't lie awake at night With thoughts of river depth or mountain height"
He is pretty much making fun of any song writer who ever wrote a love song or a song asking for forgiveness and used this type of metaphor.
Actually, the lyrics:
"River deep and mountain high There's some lyrics that'll never apply 'Cause I don't lie awake at night With thoughts of river depth or mountain height"
are from an Art Goblins song (My Keyboard Guitar Gently Weeps)... Eddie fronts them too, cool band.
It's just occurred to me I never commented on this one. Well, this is my favourite Art Brut song and the best song ever.
