Pump Up The Volume Lyrics
We'd taken our clothes off, in the wrong order
And you're leavin' your shoes to make you look taller
And I can't say I'm not enjoying the kissing
But I've a sneaking suspicion that you're not really listening
I know I shouldn't
Is it so wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
I know I shouldn't
And it's possibly wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
I'm taking it slowly
I've been reading the signs
I found my hand in a place
Where I can't tell if she minds
Rolling around amongst our clothes on the floor
I can't help it:
"Have you heard this song before?"
I know I shouldn't
Is it so wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
I know I shouldn't
And it's possibly wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
Then something angry muttered,
Between two people, red and flustered
We'd just kissed and that's about it
It may as well have been radio static
I know I shouldn't
Is it so wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
I know I shouldn't
And it's possibly wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
And you're leavin' your shoes to make you look taller
And I can't say I'm not enjoying the kissing
But I've a sneaking suspicion that you're not really listening
Is it so wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
And it's possibly wrong
To break from your kiss
To turn up a pop song
I've been reading the signs
I found my hand in a place
Where I can't tell if she minds
Rolling around amongst our clothes on the floor
I can't help it:
"Have you heard this song before?"

To turn up a pop song

To break from your kiss

The line is actually: "We'd taken our clothes off, in the wrong order"
Maybe some music is better than making out.
I think it's about how some people couldn't give a shit about music ("It may as well have been radio static") while to others it means so much they will put it before sex.
I don't really think that it matters here which is more important, the music or the sex, they should come together. This is actually one of the most passionate songs about music ever! Even in the heat of the moment, you can't keep your mind off the soundtrack, which is SO important in the music lover's life. And this music lover must share his love of music with the person he loves. Everything is better when soundtracked right.
