Saltwater Lyrics
Love you all the time
Even though you’re not mine
Love you all the time
Dream I’m in the saltwater
Timing’s gone all bad
Broken faith and a broken way
You couldn’t lose me if you tried
‘Cos I’ll be rollin’ to your side, baby
Love you all the time
Even though you’re not mine
Love you all the time
Broken faith and a broken way
You couldn’t lose me if you tried
Even though you’re not mine
Love you all the time
Dream I’m in the saltwater
Broken faith and a broken way
You couldn’t lose me if you tried
‘Cos I’ll be rollin’ to your side, baby
Even though you’re not mine
Love you all the time
Broken faith and a broken way

not going to lie, cry to this song every time I think of my ex. it's beautiful.
'You Couldn't lose me if you tried' - This song is so very tender. Such an honest portrayal of an unconditional sort of love.
This song is so significant to me, describing that kind of love where you just want to let someone know that whatever they are going through, even if its drawn you apart, you still want to be there for them.
First of all, this song is so gorgeous. I love the references to water, and the ocean. The song opens with some sort of rainy sound, and waves, rolling, and saltwater are all incorporated in the lyrics. The water/ocean references are effective, as they lend to an understanding of the love being portrayed, how vast, powerful and undying it is.
Amazing how music can gain new and powerful meaning once you go through life and all of its' experiences...been listening and loving Beach House for a few years, but now just that has happened. This album has been on my to-buy-list for a while, it suddenly appeared before me at a record store while I was on a trip to Switzerland with one of my best friends who I realized I had so many...too many...feelings for. I say too many because l know she doesn't feel the same way (believe me, I tried hahaha), but can't help it - though I value our friendship above all which is why I've been able to live with it, and why I will continue to! Anyhow, imagine my surprise after the trip and rollercoaster of heartache when I play the album after not listening to it for a while, and these are the first lyrics to greet me...
"Love you all the time, even though you're not mine"
Yup, that's me hahahaha...pretty much shattered me immediately, gosh darn it Victoria and Alex you are masters of the intimate and the tender...this song will hold that special meaning to me, forever. Endless love to you, Beach House.
No one has commented on what a beautiful song this is? I'll be the first.
And I'll be the second. Absolutely love this song...
"You couldn’t lose me if you tried."
