Amazing song. It sounds like the guy likes a hardcore girl that doesn't pay much attention to anyone else and does her own thing. The guy is obviously abused by her in their relationship.. "the name she likes to say instead of mine" and "won't say bye when she is leaving" are evidence of such. She just goes along with whatever (smoking, drinking, relationships) without really caring about the implications.
I agree completely with kingpum. I have a second theory however, and its a bit of a stretch, but here goes. The guy singing could actually be a stalker to this crazy laura, who is herself as bit peculiar. it sort of fits, but is not actually the meaning, I just thought of it and thought I'd put it out there.
