Memories Of The Grove Lyrics

Time was a drifter, almost tasted the wrath
Bitter so easy undiscovered
Stranded and I'm frightened to step out
Change moving my way, I won't let it take me
I feel I'm spinning
Just wanted to believe under it all
Imagination is reality
Too much too quick so I back up and tell you this
This is feeling hopeless at it's finest
Just wanted to believe, it's somewhere I'd rather be

I thought we'd make it to the end
Brick Walker don't leave me stranded

I think they might take it all away
Glance though a crack
It seems the scavengers are asleep
Thank God grace has come my way
Tomorrow hope awaits living closer to the end

I thought we'd make it to the end
Brick Walker don't leave me stranded

actually the brick walker part refers to a time when the MATSOD van broke down in a bad part of Cali... a really bad part. and they were stranded. These hobo's came up the ally and basically said, "hey you know this is not a good place to stay the night." The guys were like yeah we know, but were broke down. The hobos then offered to help the band by hanging around to help them if anything went down. They hobos proceeded to go down the ally and look in dumpsters, for hobo stuff. There were brick walls built up around the dumpsters. So the hobos were walking on the bricks... and the band saw them as their only help in the situation... hence the lyrics,

"I thought we'd make it to the end Brick walker don't leave me stranded."

and

"Glance though a crack It seems the scavengers are asleep Thank God grace has come my way Tomorrow hope awaits living closer to the end"

Dallas was looking out the crack in the van door. Everything was quiet, and he thanked God. I heard this from a interview w/ Dallas online.

But the thing about Maylene, and what makes them so awesome, is that most of their lyrics have double meanings. They take everyday situations in relationships, religion, and life in general and present it through a Ma-Barker-organized-crime-in-the-30's medium.

How has no one commented on this? I've had this album since Feb. These lyrics are good, Dallas seems more confident in this album.

All these guys have improved a ton, too. MATSOD is good people.
