He Doesn't Love You

I think this song is about a girl who's advising her bestfriend to leave her boyfriend coz he is only toying with her.

On a different take, she could be telling her to leave her no-good boyfriend coz she wants her for herself?

It's about a girl who loves a guy so much and maybe wants to marry him because she needs something but he's obviously a really bad guy who's been around and lived hard. And the girl in the song is saying: 'Wake up, he doesn't love you.' Stop taking the strain and move on.

It is definately about a relationship where the guy is being unfaithful. Here goes my interpretation:

Rattle the cage, flicker the light This kind of love keeps you up all night You know something ain't right

ie. she's at home late at night and he still hasn't rocked up. She stays awake constantly checking the time getting up and turning the light on etc. to check where he is. He's really late so she's getting that nagging doubt about where he is again.

You call on a friend Could you be so sure That old line's been done before You know something ain't right

She's getting pretty distressed so she calls her friend to talk it over and get her opinion. I think the girl has messaged or spoken to her guy already aswell because he must have given her some dumb excuse "that old line's been done before". Things still dont add up for her and her friend has pointed that out. you can imagine the age old conversation of "thats what he said last time! he's lying to you..."

Its finally dawning on her what is happening. the line "can you feel it come, here it comes" is a case of realisation, and obviously a case of her realising it to slow ("taking you forever") and she is on the losing deal because she's running a race that she's coming last in. He has another girl and she's just there because he likes the fact she always at home for him.

She has imersed herself in their relationship. Could possibly mean she lost contact with her old friends and all she has been living for is him. He on the otherhand, still has his other people and obviously other girls that he frequents. Whilst he is living his double life she is completely open and so she's being told now, that she knows what needs to happen. she needs to leave him because he doesn't care about her. he's selfish. (he loves himself). It is probably the classic situation that he claims to love her etc. but he still wants the attention and love from a heap of other girls because really deep down all her cares about is himself.

You wanna be saved but don't be naive It's your choice if you wanna leave, you know So don't you delay

She is obviously scared about leaving him, either because he is all she knows or because she convinces herself he does really love her. Whatever the reasons she is being warned not be naive. She has to be stong and leave him because she is the only one that can save herself.

You're taking the brunt of both of your lives That's not how you're supposed to compromise So don't you delay

She the one that is being hurt in the relationship and she deserves better. She shouldn't have to compromise in love and be in a relationship where he is unfaithful. the sooner she gets out the better.

Again, the relisation is continuing. "a little old stain will show you what he's done" suggests some remnant from his affair will show up. could be makeup on his shirt or some other souvenir. She really needs to leave him because the longer she sticks around the bigger her scar and the more damage she'll cause for herself. She will have mega baggage in her future if she doesn't handle herself now.

She has convinced herself that he is just friendly with everyone or treats everyone with the same indifference etc as he treats her and that has helped her to cope. In reality if she sticks around she will either be stuck there for good or so hurt that its going to stuff her around for the rest of her life. As it is she is in love with him and the more she stays and tries to convince herself he loves her the harder it will be for her to ever move on. the lines "You saw it coming but you didn't want to see it come" is the classic case of everything pointing to the fact he is cheating and cant be faithful to her but it is a fact that she does not want to accept.
