Nemesis Lyrics
Everybody wants to live in a lie
But why should we delude ourselves?
It's not as if we can't see something's wrong
Where's the duty to what's right?
Intentions end with empty words
and chaos replaces order
Those who shout loudest impose their will
Upholding laws that serve a few
Declaring peace while the sirens sing
In the name of progress,
In the name of madness
Drum beats faster
Crowd shouts louder
and chaos replaces order
I want justice for a voice that can't be heard
Vindication for every suffering and hurt
Let retribution hold dominion over earth
Because judgement day's not coming Judgement day's not coming
soon enough
Because judgement day's not coming
Because judgement day's not coming
Because judgement day's not coming
Because judgement day's not coming
Soon enough
I want justice for a voice that can't be heard
Vindication for every suffering and hurt
Let retribution hold dominion over earth
Because judgement day's not coming Judgement day's not coming
I want justice for a voice that can't be heard
Vindication for every suffering and hurt
Let retribution hold dominion over earth
Because judgement day's not coming Judgement day's not coming
Soon enough
Soon enough
But why should we delude ourselves?
It's not as if we can't see something's wrong
Where's the duty to what's right?
Intentions end with empty words

Majority crushing the minority? Guys, you aren't thinking this song fully through. You're actually fulfilling the song's meaning yourselves.
"Everybody wants to live in a lie But why should we delude ourselves?"
Everyone chooses to be blissfully ignorant.
"It's not as if we can't see something's wrong Where's the duty to what's right? Intentions end with empty words and chaos replaces order"
We can see what's happening, we talk about it, we may even say we'll do something about it, but we don't.
"Those who shout loudest impose their will Upholding laws that serve a few"
Does that sound like majority rule? It's an illusion. The power is held by the few in the name of the many. The people in government are self-serving. They are in power because they are the loudest, they are willing to do more than anyone else to get what they want. The same type of people always run the country. Politicians are a class of people.
"Declaring peace while the sirens sing In the name of progress, In the name of madness"
This is a little confusing, but I take it as describing propaganda. In other words, making war in the name of peace when the motivation is anything but. Imposing laws, spending public money in the name of progress with selfish motivation.
"Drum beats faster Crowd shouts louder and chaos replaces order"
More on propaganda. Getting the crowd pumped and supportive of whatever BS they are trying to achieve.
"I want justice for a voice that can't be heard Vindication for every suffering and hurt Let retribution hold dominion over earth Because judgement day's not coming Judgement day's not coming soon enough"
This is pretty obvious what is being stated here. Judgement day isn't coming for these people, or at least not soon enough. The damage they do won't be stopped through divine intervention.
Anyway, that's my take on it. It may not be right, but it most certainly is not about the majority getting what they want.
Simply stated: the cries for "justice" against the guilty are themselves demands for unjust and inhumane treatment against those that oppose our sense of personal empowerment. The goddess Nemesis herself is said to be so hungry for justice that she is ultimately incapable of exacting justice. She endlessly tips the scales of justice in one direction then compensates by shifting the weight to the other side of the scale. This is not justice it is retribution. It is us demanding retribution for the smallest slights and yet remaining largely apathetic to the most important and egregious injustices.
Think back to a time you were insulted. For example, which hurt you more? Genocide in Darfur or being mockingly labeled a "fag" by your peers. Which will draw you to righteous indignation faster? Mass murder of children in Netwon or being cut off in traffic?

THIS SONG MAKES ME WANNA REVOLT!
Quite straight forward. Kinda the misanthropic feeling for me in the way I think about misanthropy (ok, I am getting preety bad sometimes that I start hating people and hope something wipes as all ;P). It's about some kind of a wicked justice that comes abroad, like my misanthropic feelings at time, maybe some revenge from nature or space (but it's not mentioned here), not justice from people who can't seem to bring it up, but from an outer source. A Nemesis, a divine retribution, a justice that doesn't come from humans but from the outside, because it doesn't seem to come. Soon enough..
I don't think this is against people in general. More against the mindset of today. Speaking out as a voice of the minority that is stepped over by the majority. The focus of the song sees that things are not as they should be, yet the masses keep going as though nothing is wrong. And the focus wants this to change.
The people are apathetic. Even when we protest, we protest like it's a job. "Hey, it's 5 o clock, lets go to starbucks inside the walmart".
The song is about pushing everything aside. We shouldn't stand for injustice, but every single one of us is guilty of it. We watch on the news as Africans get murdered, or they're starving to death, while we sit there eating McDonalds in front of the bigscreen tv.
I love lifes luxuries as much as the next man, and I dont think this song is saying that they're evil...but when you let them control your life and become apathetic to the evils of the world, then they themselves become the monster.
like this a lot, because its a faster song and nice to sing and dance along
makes me think at their side project MODCOM nice!!!
It makes me wanna dance, every single time I hear it :D
