So,I'm the first one with the idea that can connect this to the theme of the album?:)
OK,here I go!
So,remember Fred West?Wikipedia:
Between 1967 and 1987, he and his wife Rosemary tortured, raped and murdered at least 12 young women, many at the couple's homes
Do you get it now?He did his crimes with his wife!So the marriedge would be an important thing in his life and especialy in his crimes. So,this song symbolises the moment when Fred and Rose married!!!And the best part is that the song strip the soul.It 100% sings about Fred and Rosse's crimes. "this is my home we don't like no strangers" aka-we want to kill them... "Beat the kids good and tie em up."
so,you see how the album progresses?First song is about babies, second about childhood, now someone gets married, later he does somethng with his wife....Like the album is someones life.I'm not sure about everything but what I am sure of is that this song plus strip the soul are about Fred West and his wife.
What do you think? Is there some sence in my ideas?
And it seams like the album is bouth:it describes serial killers life and at the same time it describes crimes from a bunch of different serial killers. And on top of all that it seams like all the songs sing about some niccer teams like childhood or music industry. One of the best album ever! And Wilson is the best lyricist ever.
Sory about my english:)
hej goodlikesweeper,
hej goodlikesweeper,
I think you could be right, especially because i think The Creator has a Mastertape and Trains are about west too. You could check my comments on songmeanings if you like... bunch of loose ends, but it seems to me that Fred West could be an important character on this album...

damn these gitars are fuckin awesome, they are beating the crap out of me!! =)
I've always thought that it's a cynical jab at becoming married. Instead of wedding bells, it's nails. Nails in a coffin... nails scratching on a black board. There's not many pleasant ways to describe nails.
Damn, this song is simply amazing... Even if it has no lyrics, I love the intro.
This is one of the best instrumental songs I have ever heard. The guitar work is just insane, I just can't describe how amazing it is. I love when it just soars above the drums and bass.
yeah this song is really amazing but i don't quite get the meaning of the song title... what do u think..? '
Even with only 2 words to ponder, I cannot think of a meaning. Really good song.
just a thought... the psychopath gets scratched by the nails of his victim, meybe a bride. i can be so imaginative :))
This reminds me of a Rush instrumental.
To me the title is a variation on the old "ball and chain" metaphor.
