I think this is about a lack of support and/or doubts from other people. It's like he can't do anything right and everyone is getting on him about it, no one really do much to help him fix it. So he's kind of giving up and saying that every day is like another screw-up and he starts behind the eight ball every morning because of the situation he's in.
anything like... isnt doomsday a term they use in war in which they sent bombs, missels, etc, to blow something up and can't turn them around? it's set what is bound to happen. no turning back.
