Your Urge Lyrics

You don't have to deny your urge,
It doesn't make you bad.
On our admission the make weight's lifted,
Stop dwelling on the past.

I think about the three of us,
I wonder how we tesselate,
It would have been much wiser,
To allow these feelings to abate.

Empty words so free of connotations,
All dreams come to an end.
Codify your utterance, communicate your needs,
Prepare your vocabulary.

My nervous system fails me,
My thoughts are becoming fugitive,
And when I'm in your arms,
I wonder how much I can give.

The weekend is a Godsend,
The night time is a lifeline,
Another useless fumble,
Another drunken stumble,
The pinkness round your iris,
Reveals that you've been crying,
But I don't know what my crime is,
I cause upset without trying.

People are judged on their mistakes,
And how much money that they make.
No-one wants to lose their youth,
In a trench like this.

Visiting the same places,
Kissing all the same faces,
Building up support,
Looking for rapport.

I empty out my pockets at the end of the Night,
Another scrawled first name,
Another sense of shame.

I need to get to bed,
Before I fail myself again,
We got too close that night,
And I reached out for your hand.

The night time is a lifeline,
The weekend is a God send,
Another useless fumble,
Another drunken stumble,
Oh but the pinkness near your iris,
Reveals that you've been crying,
But I don't know what my crime is,
Behind my crumbling veneer.

My strength is sapping,
My heart strings are snapping,
Ooooooooo.

My strength is sapping,
My heart strings are snapping,
Ooooooooo.
Ooooooooo.

I think this song is about someone going from one drunken one night stand to another drunken one night stand. "I empty out my pockets at the end of the Night, Another scrawled first name, Another sense of shame." I also believe that the character is having an affair - "I think about the three of us, I wonder how we tesselate, It would have been much wiser, To allow these feelings to rebate." Perhaps with a work collegue ("The night time is a lifeline, The weekend is a God send")??

Amazing song though. So articulate!

''People are judged on their mistakes, And how much money that they make. No-one wants to lose their youth, In a trench like this.''

Those lines are just genius! This song is so spirited, and it has all these different emotions mixed up - sexuality, disillusionment, apathy. It's not really the topic of sex or having a threesome(?) that's the real issue, just a general sense of being adrift comes through from this song.

I think it's about someone whose having a relationship with someone which was supposed to be casual. So he goes out and flirts with people, gets their numbers etc etc except he's realising that she means a lot more to him than he first thought and she's now upset because he means a lot more to her too.

I saw them play last night and Paul said after this song that it was about shame, and whether or not you should feel it. That makes sense to me. So it's about one night stands and affairs and how they make you feel, or should make you feel.

It;s about his urge to have a threesome!

"I think about the three of us, I wonder how we tesselate, It would have been much wiser, To allow these feelings to rebate."

Can ANYBODY please tell me something about the very beginning of the song? The first notes? It reminds me of a movie or a song, I'm getting crazy over it.

I think I really got the meaning of this song. I thought about it a lot an I hope I can explain it 'cause english isn't my first language.

It's about a man who lives in an attached relationship, but he has this urge. He does a lot of drinking and meets other women. And in this song he tries to explain why he does all this stuff. It's just a big alibi for his behavoir. He says that u don't have to be ashamed 'cause u have this urge. "I think about the three of us, I wonder how we tesselate" This line is kinda confusing. I would say the three are: he, his girlfriend and this urge. In the third part he sings about another part of his relationship. I has this urge but when he and his girlfriend get close he feels that he still loves her. Well in the chorus he describes the experiences he makes. But even though he has the urge he can't enjoy his freedom. He calls the fumble useless. When he arrives home his girlfriend is waiting for him. He doesn't know about his affairs but she feels that something is wrong. That's because she's crying. But he says he doesn't know what his crime is. I would say he tries to fool himself with this sentence. In the next part he says the society is superficial. He fears that people will convict him because of his faults without caring about his reasons. "No-one wants to lose their youth, In a trench like this." I really like this part. The trench is the relationship. He feels constricted and has only one way to go. U have to imagine this scene to unterstand. After all his only solance is to find other people with the same urge because he is sure not to be the only one. That's because the song is named YOUR urge. It kinda means that everyone has this urge. In the second chorus the last line has changed. He can't keep up the lies which he told to himself. He knows what his crime is. And in the end... he can't stand this situation any longer. Greez

@Pelayo hihihihi...you're joking, right? c'mon, it's about sex DEFINITELY, how sometimes you just want someone because you think it will make you feel less lonely, and you wake up in the morning and just go "oh, i really didn't need this" and paradoxaly you feel even lonelier. He probably thought a bit about this feeling of utter disgust with yourself that overcomes you after a "useless fumble"...or, well, how you sometimes have wishes that you can't really handle when they come true. but there's this other thing that bothers me in this song,

"Oh but the pinkness near your iris, Reveals that you've been crying, But I don't know what my crime is"

I think that the girl is crying because she expected more than a one night stand from him. He didn't lie to her about his intentions, she said yes, but when she realized in the morning that that's REALLY all she will get, she was disapointed. So, he doesn't know what he's done wrong, and he didn't do anything wrong really, except, in my opinion, he could have foreseen that this will happen. So, this whole "i don't know what my crime is sounds like a lame "oh, i REALLY didn't see that coming" excuse, where he maybe just didn't want to think about the possible ending before the fun started

Rockwilder - The beginning kind of reminded me of the first few notes of the intro to "Part Of Your World" from The Little Mermaid.

Dunno if that's what you were thinking of, but that's what came to me when I first heard it.

It's : "My nervous system fails me, thoughts are becoming fugitive" also: "abate" not "rebate" haha much love x
