I hate the line "I want to get laid". Grrr it pisses me off so much. Like, Unkle Bob are such a nice, Snow-Patrol like band, and we elevate them to great heights in our mind, but it turns out they're just as obsessed with sex as any other man

I really cant believe no one has commented on this song. To me, it sounds like someone who is dealing with a hot/cold relationship. He isnt sure if he really wants it to be over so that he can play the field, or if he just really wants her to tell him she wants a relationship with him.

Great song, I'm pretty sure it's just the story of a guy getting over a girl though. I love it for the guitar.

I think this song is about a guy and a girl who've had a hot/cold relationship where their timing is always off. He hurts her, she hurts him. Happens all the time.

This song is during one of the times when she's hurting him. He wants to be with her with everything he has, but in the back of his mind, he can't rule out the option that she's just going to refuse him and leave him high and dry, repeating the cycle again and again and again and again.

As for the lines:

She's causing him so much pain again, he's just doing what every guy does. He says he wants sex from some chick he doesn't even know and just get played, but he's completely aware that he doesn't want either. It's a man's "tough-guy" facet singing there.

He's still in love with her and wishes she were his. He knows those feelings may go away in time, but he doesn't want them to. He wants them to be together now, the way it should've been a long time ago.
