Mr Violin And Dancing Bear Lyrics

Mr Violin, I love you
From a treetop, in a fishknot
I was high on my own big thoughts
What if the sun drops
What if my heart stops

Mr Violin, you almost
Hit a bum note
with your bent bo
I was high on the whole big show
What if my soul sinks
What if my heart floats

For the sun did swing
Like a tangerine
Till we couldn't grab on
To the burning ring

Mr Dancing Bear, I love you
In a flower patch
Where the birds hatch
I was crooked to the green grass
What if the day ends
Whenever my heart splats

Mr Dancing Bear, they almost
Called you magic, out of habit
I was sore from all the laughing
I loved you in habbit
Banked on your magic

For the sun did swing
Like a tangerine
Till we couldn't grab on
to the burning ring

Every crooked tooth
Kept our lips from truth
I had almost survived
And so did you

But the rings in-between the old family tree
Are crooked for you as they are crooked for me
You get what you get when you bite from the tree
A crooked-er you and a crooked-er me

But the rings in-between the old family tree
Are crooked for you as they are crooked for me
You get what you get when you bite from the tree
A crooked-er you and a crooked-er me

They want a crooked-er you and a crooked-er me
They want a crooked-er you and a crooked-er me
They want a crooked-er you and a crooked-er me
They want a crooked-er you and a crooked-er me

I think this song, specifically the last few verses are about the negative genetic outcomes of inbreeding.

I think this song is about self-awareness and thinking too much, probably from growing out of childhood into adolescence. Each verse starts with this really beautiful thing about Mr. Violin or Mr. Dancing Bear, but then he talks about his big thoughts, and those big thoughts are actually fairly dark when you separate them out. What if the sun drops, or your heart stops?

I'm pretty sure the last line isn't a reference to inbreeding, but rather a reference to Genesis and the apple. When you bite from the tree you become self-aware, hence a crookeder you and me. All of this happened in the old family tree, as opposed to the new family tree.
