i was getting lost,
yeah, i was getting so lost,
through the storms with rain in my face.
yeah, i was getting love.
yes, i was getting good love,
with the nerve to throw it away..
to throw it way! away..
to throw it away.
throw it away.
yeah, it was raining hard.
it was raining real hard,
through the night and the following days.
oh i was getting high.
yeah, i was gettin real high
by myself but i still felt this pain
and it can take awhile
yeah, this can take a long long while
to take time, to take it away..
to take you away! away..
to take it away..
take it away.
to take it away! away..
to take it away..
away!!
now it's letting up.
i think it's gonna let up
make blues sky always brighten my days
yeah, i was getting so lost,
through the storms with rain in my face.
yes, i was getting good love,
with the nerve to throw it away..
to throw it way! away..
to throw it away.
throw it away.
it was raining real hard,
through the night and the following days.
yeah, i was gettin real high
by myself but i still felt this pain
yeah, this can take a long long while
to take time, to take it away..
to take you away! away..
to take it away..
take it away.
to take it away..
away!!
i think it's gonna let up
make blues sky always brighten my days

this song is so gooood
To me the song seems to be about a co-existing counterpart to their song "sunshine".
This song, to me, feels like it’s about an on-going relationship. And how confusing that relationship is, and even though it brings you headaches and storms, it’s comforting and something you both need, and it has once brought about sunshine and love. As hard as it is for you and even though part of you wants to leave and escape the headache of being with someone, your heart still knows you should probably stay. The last thing you want to do is hurt that person who meant so much to you at one point. But still, he's thrown away their relationship before, done wrong by her, made his mistakes, and she’s obviously been with other people since. Now, they've both changed since they first met, but through all of their storms, they're still looking for some sunshine, or a glimmer of light to make it all worth while, maybe try to work things out and be there for each other...
Maybe I’m an optimist... But that’s how I relate the lyrics to real life...
I think the song is about finding love in the music again. He went through so much shit with The Starting Line where he lost the love he had for music while trying to conform to what labels wanted and what everyone else wanted rather than just playing the music he loved (getting good love, but throwing it away). Now, with Person L, he's getting to make the music he wants (now it's letting up). I think the 'getting high by myself' verse is really about playing music alone but needing that big picture to feel whole again. Sure, this song can be applied to relationships or whatever, but knowing Kenny's situation, I think it's most applicable to music. i think Kenny's done making generic relationship songs. This one's about more than just that.
i honestly agree with BigD. Kenny went through a lot of shit and i think Person L is his way of saying that he's going to write the music he wants. however i do feel like the starting line was such a great catalyst for him because if he hadn't been so successful in that i'm not sure how many would have found out about Person L. it sucks how the music business works sometimes. i think kenny is an amazing person and he'll continue to be successful. this song is probably one of my favorites (maybe because it was one of the first i heard).
the last line is actually: make blues sky always brighten your days
(i have this album & it is really good)
this song is amazing
MCSmate... that doesn't even make sense. It's "make blue skies always brighten your day." duh
The last line is actually "May blue skies always brighten you days"...and BigD is right on..The song is about him ending his relationship with a band he thought would be everything and in actuality he ended up not wanting to be a part of it anymore..
This to me seems like a song about a relationship.
"i was getting lost, yeah, i was getting so lost, through the storms with rain in my face.", -means to me that he's been in the same relationship for so long but he's getting lost in it and doesn't know if he still feels the same.
"yeah, i was getting love. yes, i was getting good love, with the nerve to throw it away.. to throw it way! away.. to throw it away. throw it away." -makes me think that he knows his lover was good to him, but he's still unsure of his love for her, and he's willing to throw it away.
"yeah, it was raining hard. it was raining real hard, through the night and the following days." -so eventually he breaks up with her and then starts to feel like he needs her. and "raining hard" kind of sounds like he's having a miserable time without her, and regrets leaving her.
"oh i was getting high. yeah, i was gettin real high by myself but i still felt this pain" -he's trying to forget her, possibly dating other girls & enjoying it but he still feels pain for the love that he lost.
"and it can take awhile yeah, this can take a long long while to take time, to take it away.. to take you away! away.. to take it away.. take it away." -he's feeling like theres no way to take back the fact that he left her, and that it's going to be a while before he gets over her.
"now it's letting up. i think it's gonna let up make blues sky always brighten my days" -he's finally feeling like he's getting over her and his skies are finally blue.
Idk, that's just what I think of whenever I hear the song. Mainly because that's EXACTLY how I felt after I left one of my boyfriends. d:
