Q&A
Don't Send Your Girls to... Lyrics
well the slipper fit
would you look at that
the way that she took your hand
got you helpless and spinning again
you should be afraid
of breathing air so sweet
but if you must
know your lungs will adjust
but you won't ever be able to come back to us
you went overseas
she forgot everything save your name
and you followed on a string
to prove she knew exactly what she was doing
and though you could trace her shape
exact into just about anything
you move through your own room
dont recognize a single thing
you won't ever be able to come back to us
you've got me breathing oh so deep
you've got me coughing myself to sleep
you've got me
you
would you look at that
the way that she took your hand
got you helpless and spinning again
you should be afraid
of breathing air so sweet
but if you must
know your lungs will adjust
she forgot everything save your name
and you followed on a string
to prove she knew exactly what she was doing
and though you could trace her shape
exact into just about anything
you move through your own room
dont recognize a single thing
you've got me coughing myself to sleep
you've got me
you

i'm not sure if this song was written from a man or a woman's perspective, but, i think it's about a person talking about their friend/boyfriend etc. leaving them for a girl overseas.
'well the slipper fit would you look at that the way that she took your hand got you helpless and spinning again'
that's referring to the tale of cinderella, so i think that the guy must've been hooked as soon as he saw her. he was immediately rendered helpless.
'you should be afraid of breathing air so sweet but if you must know your lungs will adjust'
i think those lyrics were from a sarcastic POV, presumably talking about how the boy possibly found the girl perfect. he should be afraid of breathing 'air so sweet', but whatever may come between them, his 'lungs will adjust'.
'but you won't ever be able to come back to us'
that line is obviously talking about how he made his choice and he is no longer welcome with the person whom he used to live with.
'you went overseas she forgot everything save your name and you followed on a string to prove she knew exactly what she was doing'
i think that's talking about how the boy followed the girl 'on a string', meaning that he was completely devoted to her, looking at her just to prove to himself that she was sure of everything she did, while she simply 'forgot everything' but his name.
'and though you could trace her shape exact into just about anything you move through your own room dont recognize a single thing'
i think that's talking about how his obsession reached to the point where, really, he knew her better than himself.
'you won't ever be able to come back to us'
that's stating that he has gone too far and that once again, he is no longer welcome with whomever he used to live with.
'you've got me breathing oh so deep you've got me coughing myself to sleep you've got me you'
lastly, i think that verse is about how even though that person he left behind says he isn't welcome with them anymore, they are still pining for him and in essence, he still has them.
anyway, really cool song. finally found a use for myspace.. ha, i discovered these guys on there.
