Resurrection Lyrics

Free at last
Finally tasting happiness
Five years of hell for nothing
Trapped inside the minds of failures.

A wise man once said,
"That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
But we were dead,
So are we now invincible?

(Chorus 2x)
Determination,
Perseverance,
Resolution;
Resurrection.

Final straw
Underlining ignorance
Consumed by greed and hate;
Nothing swept under the vein of silence.

Reality can't hear,
Ways to get stopped just to start all over.
Treated like shit,
Pushed aside and expect to pull.

(Chorus 2x)
Determination,
Perseverance,
Resolution;
Resurrection.

(Interlude 6x)
We have become so goddamn powerful.

All the beatings you gave us,
We will use them against you.
All the beatings you gave us, [you gave us]
We will use them against you.
Against you.

(Chorus 2x)
Determination,
Perseverance,
Resolution;
Resurrection.

Free at last
Finally tasting happiness;
The resurrection,
Resurrection,
Resurrection,
Resurrection.

They feel resurrected because they dropped their genre-pushing label Roadrunner, and Anolds came back to join them. Pretty classic song.

"It's a document of the last 5 years. We're saying 'fuck all the bad times' & that we're in a much better place right now, that song kind of sets up the theme of the entire record, really." -- Mark Hunter.

To sum it up, the song is about the band's 5-year stint with Roadrunner Records. The band felt Roadrunner Records was treating them like shit by keeping them in the backseat to other bands on the label. Ever since they left Roadrunner to join Ferret Records (For U.S. Distribution) & Nuclear Blast Records (For International Distribution), the band has felt they were free & rejuvenated.

roadrunner licks balls they're much better off with Ferret. This song is awesome - great start to the album as for the meaning sonic radar seems to have got it spot on.

thats what pisses me off about road runner.they take a band like killswitch engage and make the videos sound nothing like the song. theres no screaming in the killswitch engagae vids, which i think is road runner records

yeah, uh m333333...dude there is NOTHING rap about ANY songs of Chimaira...this song and album are among the best they have ever recorded. And MArk Hunter said that the song is about more than them dogging Roadrunner Records, its so much more, of course he didnt mention what else it was about becuase it was on a dvd released before the album.

Thrash? lol... There's nothing thrash about chimaira. Metalcore at most. Not saying it as a bad thing btw.

wellll i can see them as thrash sometimes. id say theyre in a similar subgenre as slayer, which is late thrash metal-. howeverr id say chimaira fits more into heavy metal and deffinitely melodic metalcore. which isn't a bad thing at all. a lot of sick bands are considered metalcore.

In my final year of high school I made this my unofficial graduation song. Where I come from high school goes for 5 years, making the lyrics apply perfectly to school. The official graduation song was "How far we've come" by Matchbox 20. I think this is far more honest to most peoples experience of schooling.

This seems a lot more rap metal-ish than the other stuff.
