Open Road Lyrics

well the clock says its time roll, yeah
for all you people fo sho
and maybe some should consider
a place thats open till 4

Lights go down and youre ready for the open road
maybe theres a chance fo sho
never really knowin' if you'll be on the other side
when its time to come home

realize that im gonna be the one who
takes your hand while were walkin through the avenue
but im your man i wanna take your
oh im your man whose gonna make you

but your so far away from here
to be on your own
but then your so far away from here
to be all alone

never had a reason or a will to decieve you girl
maybe theres a chance fo sho
never really knowin' if youll be on the other side
when its time to come home

realize that im gonna be the one who
takes your hand while were walkin through the avenue
but im your man i wanna take your
oh im your man whose gonna make you

One of their bestest songs. The guitar is fantastic. Vocals sounds so chill and calm. How this band didnt get any bigger than they are is beyond me.

My g/f and I have about 10 songs that are "our songs" and this is definitely one of them. The only bummer is we've seen them over a dozen times between Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago and Baltimore and they've never played it live. Oh well, still a great song.

maybe this is about his band touring and he's thinking about a girl whose far away from him...

First off, this is an amazing song all around. Beautiful inside and out.

The song is about a guy leaving a bar/club and trying to take a girl home.

well the clock says its time roll, yeah (bar/club is closing) for all you people fo sho and maybe some should consider (people who havn't found someone to bring home) a place thats open till 4 (go to another bar/club that's open later)

Lights go down and youre ready for the open road (Again, bar/club closing) maybe theres a chance fo sho (maybe he has a shot at taking a girl home) never really knowin' if you'll be on the other side when its time to come home (*last 2 lines: he doesn't know where he'll end up by the end of the night; his house or her's)

realize that im gonna be the one who takes your hand while were walkin through the avenue but im your man i wanna take your oh im your man whose gonna make you (this whole stanza he is talking directly to the girl telling her that he wants to walk her home)

but your so far away from here to be on your own but then your so far away from here to be all alone (here he is almost pleading with her telling her she lives too far away from her house to walk home alone)

never had a reason or a will to decieve you girl (basically saying "you can trust me") maybe theres a chance fo sho never really knowin' if youll be on the other side when its time to come home (*explained above)

<repeats chorus>

That's how I see it.

while i agree that MDiesel is right about the first verse, I think the chorus takes on much more of a relationship approach. And the second verse talks about how they two are apart for some time and how he misses his girl. When he isnt sure if she'll be on the "otherside", i think hes wondering where the two of them will be once they are done with the time period that they are apart from each other...aka the otherside of their separation. Will they get back together, will they have moved on?? Never really know
