Quicksand Lyrics

I must have been so stupid
I must have been so out of touch

He must have been so clever
Convincing me that this was really love

Desperate for words, lost in a maze,
It fell apart, I lost my place,
It hurt so bad, I cried for days
Time healed all pain, now I'm okay

How many times can my heart break,
Disillusioned by the thought of flawless love?

Will I ever get there or am I drowning in
quicksand, waiting on relief to come?

Desperate for words, lost in a maze,
It fell apart, I lost my place,
It hurt so bad, I cried for days
Time healed all pain, now I'm okay

I'll rise from all my sorrow,
Let the sun shine on my face

All alone in comfort,
It's my solitude I will embrace

I will rise from the sorrow

Notice she was all alone and comfortable at the same time. So if you think you'll feel uncomfortable if you break off a relationship, think again. It will be the best thing you ever did in the end.

What an empowering song. I used this song to get over a breakup with a girl who, ironically, introduced me to Natalie's music. She and I actually went to see Natalie perform two days before the breakup.

The song illustrates the deep pain that can be felt from the loss of love but reminds you that you have the power to continue on, find comfort in yourself and base your happiness on you ... not who you're with.

I agree completely, it's about finding the strength within yourself to pick up and move on, and it's important to love yourself first..in your solitude, embrace.

I need this kind of INNER STRENGTH

Brilliant and beautiful song! I also think it's about finding your inner strength after a painful break-up. It sounds like she was betrayed and misled, and even though it was hard at first she got through it with her strength and belief in herself.

Amazing song! It's not just about the pain you feel after a break up it's about the fact that you will be okay. Whether it takes seconds, minutes, days, weeks, or months. You will prevail through the pain of losing someone you love. It won't be easy, but with time you won't feel so bad. Moving on isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes it's healthy. Overall I think that this song is trying to say that YOU WILL BE OKAY!!
