The Fallout Lyrics

Seaweed like emerald waves
She sleeps beneath the breaking wade.
A siren dying, oceans' slow defeat.
The floods will rise.

And take us all.

An end to all this quarrel,
A final grace to rid her grief,
Oh,
Mother, show no mercy for me.

Wash the stains away
Come unto me again
Open yourself beneath us all (swallow)
Purge the soil
Burn the surface
Erase, Erase
Erase the past again

Oh, she will sleep like a breathing fire's kiss upon you
Oh, my darling dear walk carefully
Perhaps she'll still be there ? (wake up!)
The rivers to rise again

Wash the stains away
Come upon me again
Open yourself beneath us all (swallow)
Purge the soil
Burn the surface
Erase, Erase
Erase the past again

[whispering:]
I am my brother’s keeper
I am my brother’s keeper
An eye for an eye until everyone’s blind
?...
I’m sick of it
I’m sick of the blood
I’m sick of it
?...

Don't you want something real
Don't you want something real

I'd like other suggestions as to the meaning of this song, but from what I'm getting it's all about Mother Nature and how it will one day "Open [itself] beneath us all [and] swallow." She's a siren dying, the oceans' slow defeat and because of this the floods will rise to take us all. This is brought on by humanities eye for an eye outlook on life.

I think that it's similar Nietzsche's Eternal Recurrence.

He speaks about a Mother, an origin that returns like a wave to vanish again. He wish and end for all becouse tiredness. He is waiting a catharsis to erase pain and guilt but he knows that all will repeat. Like a Fallout.

Taken from an interview with Peter Dolving:

"The song itself is a prayer, a prayer for rain. A prayer for the end of this shitty thing called modern, western society."

word. also where is the interview, I would like to read it

seaweeds like emerald veins, she sleeps beneath the breaking waves -talking about the sea

a silent dying ocean's slow defeat -humans have been severely polluting the ocean over the past few centuries

the floods will rise -the sea/mother nature will (hopefully) get revenge and wipe out humanity

an end to all this quarrel -referring to wars/conflicts

a final grace to rid her grief, oh mother show no mercy for me -the "final grace" being the flood, the singer even admits he's to blame

wash the stains away, come unto me again, open yourself beneath us all swallow, purge the soil, burn the surface, erase the past again -i think he says "again" because of the story of the flood in the bible. the next verse is a bit more cryptic but open for interpretation

i am my brother's keeper -talking about the earth
