(POP)Ular SciencE Lyrics
Nothing feels right
but my fake smiles paint pictures like everything's fine
the cheap line wasn't told
so they've got spindles spinning bad songs into gold
and who decides what's wrong or right?
when the puzzle pieces twist
and seem like they won't fit their match
i'll be waiting, i'll be waiting
and all the best songs
what's the best about them?
i thought i was part of something more
but more money, less substance, more demand
now for great songs, that no one understands
you can't lay brick on wet cement
or build castles out of sand
but who decides?
but when the puzzle pieces twist
and seem like they won't fit their match
then i will try and try again
and hope that someone understands
i'll be waiting, i'll be waiting
and they can say they love you
but it still won't change a thing
cause the tides may turn tomorrow
and i won't be there to look
i can say
i've got to say
dollar by dollar your soul gets smaller
trending what we've fought to make ours
they don't care about
they don't care
it's a good thing that trends fade away
it's so much cooler in the shade
they don't care about
they don't care
we give in nightly to our addiction
a self afflicted public crucifixion
they don't care about
they don't care
dollar by dollar your soul gets smaller
trending what we've fought to make ours
they don't care about
they don't care about..
they don't care
they never cared
but my fake smiles paint pictures like everything's fine

Check the lyrics sheet...the line "now for great songs that no one understands" should read "NOT" for great songs that no one understands. Cool song about the guilt artists should feel for not being true to their craft and compromising their music for a buck. Anthony is pissed off at all the crap that big record companies churn out and is saying how most of it lacks substance or meaning. Which is exactly what every Bayside song whether it's a Smoking Popes cover or Counting Crows cover...they're all meaningful well thought out songs and the melodies and solos are incredible. Anthony, Jack, Nick and Chris are 4 of the most talented guys out now both musically and lyrically. Take a look at the lyric sheets and listen to them and if you've got a brain in your head, you'll agree.
I think this song is about having an oppnion, but nobody listening because everybody is so biased from the media. I also think it's about not following the crowd because it makes you less of a person.
I think its about pop singers how they come out with music just for money and there is no real talent or thought into theyre songs how they just slap anything together and get money out of it and how its an insult to good bands that put alot of thought and meaning into theyre lyrics and make music that isnt just another pop trend that will fade out.
"dollar by dollar your soul gets smaller" is such a great line in this song. I feel that Anthony is definately talking about selling yourself to make the songs and albums which will make more money, and even though the fans eat it all up, in the end the fame and glory isn't worth it.

at a show i was at ant introduced it saying this is about what he thinks about the current state of music
and these lyrics arent quite right check the lyric booklet
this song is pretty obvious. its about popular music and how a lot of popular music today is crap and people glorify it cause it the "cool" thing to listen to. and how they wont follow the trend cause they want to stay true to themselves with their music.
** i agree with baysideisacult. when they did a acoustic set that i was helping to run they said the same thing that we posted.
this is definitely one of my favorites if not my favorite bayside song.
probably my favorite line in the song is "good thing bad trends fade away, it's so much cooler in the shade". it's just such an incredible song, especially given what's been going on with music and bands just not caring about anything except getting to the top and having fans who stick with them until there's a new "next cool thing".
i could talk about this song forever, everything about it is perfect.
