Dear Your Holiness Lyrics
Hey mom, daddy left me alone
Someone save me, someone save me
Hey god, I'm out here on my own
So now will you save me now
I think its funny you've been quiet for so long
When you're quiet no one proves you wrong
And dear your holiness
Your armies safe and sound
Down here dying for you
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
Maybe you can trick a lot of them
Maybe if you fool the best of them
The rest will come around
Were all scared
So they dressed you up in all these
Different names
I gotta find peace myself
Before I give you all
Before I give you anything at all
I think its funny you've been quiet for so long
When you're quiet no one proves you wrong
And dear your holiness
Your armies safe and sound
Down here dying for you
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
Maybe you can trick a lot of them
Maybe if you fool the best of them
The rest will come around (around)
Been thinking that theres something more
And that you'd come down and you tell me yourself
Now I realize its just a waste of time
Another penny thrown down the well
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
(Dear your holiness, armies safe and sound)
And I don't know how they found me, found me here
(Dear your holiness, armies safe and sound)
Maybe you can trick a lot of them

As I grew older and saw more of the world and learned more, I realized God doesn't exist (to each their own views). I was raised Catholic and to me this was a major shock to the way I thought. I was used to praying and talking to God, and to someone who has previously talked to God, talking directly to him even if you don't believe in him comes naturally. I believe Anthony has made it very clear in his songs, especially this one, that he does not believe in God whatsoever. Sure he doesn't come out and say it because Christians judge atheists negatively (I don't even like that word "atheist").
i think its about a guy questioning if there is a god or not
I think this is fast becoming one of my favorite tracks off the new album, definatly about questioning the existance of god.
what he is really saying in this song is that everyone has a different god, but it is really the same thing, so why is everybody making a big deal of it (Were all scared So they dressed you up in all these Different names)
i think i prefered the old version of this... where instead of
"Been thinking that theres something more And that you'd come down and you tell me yourself Now I realize its just a waste of time Another penny thrown down the well"
there was
"i never asked to be involved for anyone other than myself and i never asked to be counted on and now im not feeling so well"
but i still love it.
Where can you find the old version? BaysideISaCULT!
well they played it last september at a show i was at, and it was recorded for a UK tv channel, i taped the show and listened to it loads! so i got to know the old version well, its the same apart from the interlude-thing. you can probably find the old version on youtube but i dont know how good the quality would be
In the cd case, the lyrics say: Hey mom, THEY left me here alone. But I dunno, because they also say "I think it's funny you've been QUITE for so long" which obviously is an error on their part.
I think the song is about being ANGRY at god really, also questioning them. Because he says: I gotta find peace myself/Before I give you all/Before I give you anything at all So it sounds to me like he isnt exactly saying HEY GOD DOESNT EXIST but more like I have to figure out things on my own before I start relying on God, because all God has caused him was pain.
i agree with jenymca. i dont think he is sayin' there inst a god. he is just angry and questioning god, and why he is having such a horrible life or w/e, and maybe its about loosing beatz, and he is questions god why would let him die in the crash and not save him. i honestly don't know. and none of us will know what its really about, unless we are to ask the person who wrote it .
but i just love this song. when iwas doubting god. and questioning him, i heard this song, and i knew i wasnt the only one.
lsxgkasdgdfln i love this song. i think that it's just based on the confusion that he's feeling and that i know i'm feeling about god. a while back he wrote a blog centered around writing the lyrics to what turned into this song, and he was talking about how he doesn't feel like there's a reason to praise god if the truth is that whatever happens in your life is in your own hands and based on how hard you work and the decisions you make.
this and brand new's "jesus christ" are my two favorites when it comes to the subject of god and stuff.
