I and I

Note the "I and I we're taking control of our lives..." Is gang vocals. It's about him realising he needs to take control of his own life and he's passing on what he's learned to others "I'm sharing that comfort..." When they all sing together "I and I..." it's about coming together to get a grip of their own lives, Each "I" is a different person. They are encouraging everyone in the crowd that "everything's alright" And I think the "If I could choose my own name..." is kind of saying that there will be anger along the way about various things, but you learn to control it "But with timing and class" Perhaps like his lyrics, angry and aggressive sometimes, but with timing and class? I guess that's up to you to decide.

This is one of my favourites on the new album. I think it's about taking control of problems you have and living your life even though you have some problems.

i think it about being famous and not really realizing until ur stuck in rehab or a mental institute. i don't really kno yet i just got the album yesterday

it also has to do with a split personality.

all of these lyrics are referring to a split personaltiy that has been adopted through the hell of criticism over all the years. get it?

Amazing song. The CD is my new addiction.

i just saw these guys in concert on saturday and ant gave a little background to the song. it's about everybody taking control of their own lives and and realizing that everything is okay, through the good and the bad everything is okay. like the song says, breathe and everything will be fine. it's about overcoming hardships. 'woe is me, woe were us' makes it seem like they're seeking pity. but that line is followed immediately by 'but not anymore, we stand up for ourselves'. there comes a time in everybody's life when they need to be in control of their lives and get over everything. this song embodise that time. by 'i and i', this song refers to everybody. this is because i call myself i but you also call yourself i. so this song encompasses everybody because we are all 'i' to ourselves. in other words, we all need to take control of our lives and then 'everythings alright'. this song is truly amazing. seeing them perform it is so much better. the passion that ant puts into every word that comes out of his mouth is completely unreal. amazing song, amazing band.

i was there at the crazy donkey too, he gave a little explanation. i forget it now but it was basically about how we're all in this together.

it's just about getting over the shit that happens to you, and putting a lot in perspective. this is how i think the accident came through in the albums lyrics. they didn't write about the accident or losing john or anything that happened, but how theyre feeling as people afterwards. it really shows you how strong they are as people, it's inspiring, especially during a hard time in your life

This is my favorite on the record! I'm not sure what its about though, my it really just caught my ear when I was listen to the album, I was just sitting on the floor listening to it and then this song came on, I was like "Wow this is a really really good song"

I saw Anthony play an acoustic show and he said that he took 'I' from a certain religion (don't remember which). The meaning of 'I' in this religion states that I can be yourself, but 'I' also is your friends, your family, God, etc. When you listen to the song with that in mind, it takes it to a new level.

This song to me means that Ant has finally realized that he's come to terms with not being like everyone else...that he's okay with being and saying things controversial - comfortable in his own skin...and he's learned over time that you can say things others don't like as long as you "learned where to stand and where to tread lightly" He's also saying maybe that he's tired of being scoffed at and that it's about time someone listens to his rants besides I & I...and he can get further by taking a deep breath and calming himself down when he gets pissed at things he doesn't like...and if he can just keep this up, he'll be fine but if not the bottom will drop out from under and he'll end up in a nut house in a padded room. Regardless of what you take from the lyrics, they're brilliant and meaningful which pretty much sums up every song I've ever heard Bayside do...awesome stuff.
