Love Will Tear Us Apart Lyrics
When the routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we are changing our ways
Taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold?
Turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept all our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Do you cry out in your sleep?
All my failings expose
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good?
Just can't function no more
When love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we are changing our ways
Taking different roads
Love, love will tear us apart again
Turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept all our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again
All my failings expose
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good?
Just can't function no more
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

the original version by joy division was almost uncoverable. somehow shes taken that song and done this amazing version. tottally opposite in that its minimalistic, slow, light textures, and of course sung by a female. and yet shes revived the emotion, extending it and making it an even more powerful song. one of the best covers of any song ever
I find this song so touching. even though it's very emotionally sad, i can feel how much emotion was put into the song everytime i hear it. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Susanna is one of those rare artists that you can hear the emotion in her voice when she sings. This is a cover song, originally recorded by Joy Division, I believe, and it's been covered by a few other bands...but I absolutely love this version. She sings it so beautifully.
When I hear this song I think of two people in a relationship that are kind of growing apart from each other and they feel like the relationship has come to a stand-still. They separate but ultimately come together again for some reason they can't really figure out. They love each other, but they know deep down that it's coming to an end...or really, that it's been over for some time.
"Our respect runs so dry Yet there's still this appeal That we've kept all our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again"
I also think this lyric is written so perfectly: "When the routine bites hard"
The imagery fits so well. It's you realizing so suddenly how monotonous your life is that it feels like you've been bitten...hard. But that credit goes to the writer of the song, I suppose.
This is one of those songs that I put on repeat and just listen.
I thought, after the Fall Out Boy version, that this song could not be covered. This song is definitely proving me wrong. It's beautifully sung and I love it everytime I hear it. She brought a whole new meaning to this song.
I first heard this when it appeared on Grey's Anatomy. It fit perfectly.
I also first heard this version on Grey's Anatomy (which was by chance), and I became obsessed with finding who did it; it's by far my favorite cover of this song. Beautiful, beautiful song.
I heard this on grey's anatomy as well. She has a really beautiful voice. I thought that no one could beat the cover that Nouvelle Vague did, but this one definitely does!
This cover is just perfect. I honestly believe it couldn't possibly have been made any better. Seconding what someone earlier said, I love how simplistic this version is, because usually you can't cover a song and strip it down to the bare elements like that, while retaining the essence and emotion of the song. The fact that there's two components I think emphasises the beauty of Ian Curtis' lyrics further, and of course the brilliance and purity of Susannas voice! Although its simplistic throughout though, its not at all monotonous or boring, which again I think is a real achievement. Really, such an amazing song.
I usually dislike when people post on songMEANINGS to say how much they love a song and nothing else, but seeing as its a cover, I thought itd be okay [=
