Time to Get Away Lyrics
Its time to get away, its time to get away from you
Its time to get away, its time to get away from you
You brought a lot of money
But me, I got a tiny tummy
And you, you make me sleep
I try and try
But you’re under my knee
And I start to be sensible (if you know what I mean)
And so its time to get away, Its time to get away from you
I’m dying to get away, I’m dying to get away
Next time we’ll talk it over
And we can start again
For you, I caught a lot of static
And me, I would like it automatic
Ah-what what what what what did you think would happen next?
Ah-what what what what what could it ever be?
Though its time to get away, its time to get away from you
I’m dying to get away, I’m dying to get away
Next time let’s talk about it
And maybe start again
To think I used to pity you
To think I used to pity you, it’s true
To think I used to pity you
To think I used to talk to you, it’s true
Next time we can talk about it
Or even start again
I couldn’t tell you what you wanted
(You know what I’m saying?) I knew you were low man,
But the truth is I was shocked
[Of] power eyes, eyes never lie
Kids, Kids never lie.
Its time to get away, its time to get away from you
You brought a lot of money
But me, I got a tiny tummy
And you, you make me sleep
I try and try
But you’re under my knee
And I start to be sensible (if you know what I mean)

Ah-what what what what what could it ever be?

He says "but me, i got a tiny tummy"
I saw LCD at Austin City Limits this year and he said that means "im hungry".
It's either "tiny" or "tidy", ive never been quite sure.
if anyone has any idea what he says after "you brought a lot of money" let me know... I cant make it out. It almost sounds like he says 'tummy', but that seems too stupid to be correct.
He does indeed say "tummy", at least according to the lyrics in the album inlay. Great song though.
What the hell? Does it really say that? That's absurd.
i really like this song
Sounds to me like it's about a manager/producer, possibly a bandmate...
So maybe I am seeing this totally the wrong way, but it sounds like it be about someone who was caught doing something to a kid. (doing what? ...I don't want to go there) Because he says things like "tiny tummy"...and at the end, "I knew you were low man, But the truth is I was shocked Of power eyes, eyes never lie. Kids, Kids never lie." Could be about someone who found out something shocking about a friend or someone they knew and now they want to "get away" from them... Just a thought.
The song is about his old manager. James Murphy said on March 28, 2011 during his performance in New York City at Terminal Five: "People think this song is about an ex-girlfriend or something. It's not. It's about my old manager. Fxck that guy. I paid a lot of money for the right to say fxck that guy."
