Isle Of Her Lyrics

Row! There's only seven more miles to go...
Row! There's only seven more miles to go...
Row! There's only seven more miles to go...
Row! There's only seven more miles to go...

We'll reach the Isle of Her
We'll find the peacocks tail
We'll steal the mother of pearl
We'll eat the dancing girls

Cyclops gazing alone
Facing mirrors that show
The reflection of his own
Face to face

A hand on each of the oars
A hand on each of the oars
We're seven miles from shore
Just keep on going

i thik it's about something like Homère Odysses and Iliade because of the words "row" like in a galley there's "seven miles to go" to find the "isles of her" the greek isle of Ulyss and his wife too. i think it's about Homère poetry too because of the "cyclops". It makes me think about difficulty to find love and the reflection that suggest this aim.

Well, I found something else (taken from http://www.pbsfm.org.au/Documents.asp?ID=4717&Title=The+Klaxons):

I suppose that Alfred Jarry, on his own, did inspire from Odissey.

Oh, how nice is songmeanings that put away everything I wrote in the middle. I try again:

Well, I found something else (taken from http://www.pbsfm.org.au/Documents.asp?ID=4717&Title=The+Klaxons):

Or what about The Isle of Her, based on a short story by the French absurdist writer Alfred Jarry, Concerning the Cyclops and the Isle of Her?

“It was a story about rowing towards this island that was guarded by a Cyclops with mirrors hanging from its ears, and he used to breathe out crystals”.

I suppose that Alfred Jarry, on his own, did inspire from Odissey.

that was exactly my thought...

I have to agree with the war the statement totally "Face 2 Face". Most of the song can sound different, when I first heard the song I thought they were saying "Roses, send my love to god", "A Hand on each others throat". Looking at the lyrics, I have been corrected thank god lol.

This song to me, is about learning to love yourself before you can truly love something else. This was emphasised with me thinking "A hand on each other" was being said a lot throughout the song.
